Walton and Owen are underrated in my opinion...

Anderson was picked in the 4-8 range last year in the pre-season. So, I don't think anyone should get too excited. Truth be told, Owen, ML Collins, Anderson, Walton, South, and a few others will have a realistic shot at cutting down nets. This should prove to be another exciting year in the 8th.

Owen is well-coached team that has quite a bit of talent. I think they will win their district and be one of 4-5 teams that can win the region.

Shelby has a great coach and great AD. It might take a few years to build back, but they will be back.

Nice hire for Shelby Co. Zimmerman deserves a lot of credit for getting a "name" coach to come in. Congrats to all involved.

Diddle might be the best play to watch basketball in the state of KY. Plus, the city of Bowling Green is a great place to have the state tourney.

I agree. I think Slaughter might be the better college player, but Rowe was a beast in high school.

Very True. By the time you get through all the scratches, you get some refs calling championship level games that don't need to be there.

They are high school kids that are going to be out of school enough as it is. So, you propose have them out for almost two weeks of school? This is not the NCAA. The KY state tourney is one of the best around, due to the fact that its not a "class system" and everyone has a shot.

Stowers was playing to win until the final few seconds. There is no way he conceded the game till the end. As for the shot, I'd say the kid didn't know not to take it. It's been a while since Anderson has been in that spot.

Coaches pick.

That's quite a statement! I think the 8th as a whole is returning to levels not seen in quite a while. My hats off to Simon Kenton. They are a very solid team. Tonight was what high school athletics is all about. Two teams giving every ounce of effort they had. I know the kids from Simon are hurting right now, but what a run they have had. As a fan of the game, I have enjoyed the way they have competed every time I've seen them. It will be fun to see one of the youngest teams in the state get to take the floor at Diddle. At this point, would anything surprise with this bunch?

Walton is a very nice team. 8th region All-A Champs, and District Champs. Nothing to hang your head about. Congrats on a fine season.

Congrats to Simon. They are very deserving. However, u hate to have Shelby lose their best player in a close game. Not saying it would have changed the outcome, but u hate to see a kids season end like that.

Simon would have to be the favorite playing at home. However, Shelby seems to have no problem playing the spoiler role. Shelby seems to be peaking at the right time. They won 5 out of 6, beating Franklin, South Oldham, and taking Anderson to the wire in a heated rivalry game. Simon Kenton looked very solid against Owen. 8th Region POY Sydni Wainscott looked great in the first round game. Shelby's talented freshman Aaliyah Wells was impressive in the first round, scoring 16 pts and pulling down 21 rebounds. This one is going to be a great one to watch. So, what do you think?

Two district winners will face off on Friday. Walton and Anderson both beat bitter rivals in their respective district championships. They both are two of the bigger teams in the region. Both teams hang their hat on the defensive end of the court. This should be a great game for 8th region fans to watch. So, what are your predictions?

Nice pics! Friday should be a really fun night. District winner vs. District Winner on one side. District Runner-Up vs. District Runner-up on the other side. For all the parity, it seems like the 30th and the 32 districts were the class of the 8th this season. Also, after all the talk of a wide-open region (which I believe it has been, and is), wouldn't it be funny to see Anderson vs. Simon III?
