Added 8th team

Should make for interesting conversation. I do have one question - Will Shelby be better than Carroll, Williamstown, North Oldham and Gallatin County? I was under the understanding that most of their players went to Collins.

Who is the #9 team?

I left out #8 , it is now fixed.

Walton and Owen are underrated in my opinion...

Teams - Shelby Co. is too high. I would add Williamstown into the top 10.

Players - Dixon too high, Whitfield too low. Willhoite and possibly Hill should be on the list replacing Bryant and Sandlin. My top 10 would be:

1. Sydni Wainscott

2. Jasmine Whitfield

3. Aaliyah Wells

4. Rianna Gayhart

5. Eriel McKee

6. Kelli Dixon

7. Tori Willhoite

8. Hannah Devine

9. Brooke Hill

10. Sydney Brown

Best of luck to Wainscott this year. She is an outstanding player.

How does Tori Wilhoite from Williamstown go from ranked 4th last year to not even ranked this year. She has averaged a double double in points and rebounds each of her last two seasons. I have personally watched her put up 26pts and 19 rebounds in a single game against Gallatin county as a sophomore. Some of the girls on this list may never average a double double. Some of the girls may become very good players, but until you put up the numbers to back it up, you should not be ranked in the top ten. The rankings should be based on what a player has done, not what we think they can, or are going to do. How many other players in the top ten have averaged a double double of any kind in each of the last two seasons?

Walton and Owen are underrated in my opinion...

Walton definitely is underrated in this ridiculous preview

Individual player rankings are generally just not very good. It's so hard to compare girls across region who play on varying levels of teams. I dont want to talk about specific girls on this list, just overall hard to compare a player playing on a really good team who plays top state level competition game in and game out to one who plays on a lesser team against lesser competition. Numbers really have little impact in the discussion IMO.

I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the way anybody ranks individual kids across the region...it varies EXTREMELY depending on who you ask.

Now the teams, Walton is waaay too low. Anderson/Walton/South are probably the three to watch early on. I would give Owen a shot in there well, and of course you can never discount Simon Kenton. Shelby has no business on this list from what I understand. They lost just about every kid.

Usually Cats Pause is truly awful with their girls previews and this year is no different.

Good points. But when you talk about competition levels Walton, Owen, and Williamstown all play as similar of schedules as you could possibly get. Yet Walton has two players ranked and Owen one (3 of 10). That's two of the top three in the same conference at that. I'm not sure what you are comparing when you talk about competition levels in the 8th. And yes the previews of the girls and boys individual rankings are bad.

I have no reply to any of the lists, players or teams. However, the great thing about the original post and the ones that follow is this: WE'RE FINALLY CLOSE TO THE SEASON'S BEGINNING and OBSERVERS/FANS HAVE FINALLY AWAKENED FROM THEIR OFF-SEASON HIBERNATION! Thank goodness Oct. 15 is just around the corner.

I totally agree. I'm ready for it to start.

I posted the 8th region boys on the Boys BBall Forum
