Teams - Shelby Co. is too high. I would add Williamstown into the top 10.

 

Players - Dixon too high, Whitfield too low. Willhoite and possibly Hill should be on the list replacing Bryant and Sandlin. My top 10 would be:

5. Eriel McKee

6. Kelli Dixon

7. Tori Willhoite

8. Hannah Devine

9. Brooke Hill

You must not have seen her play. She may be the best "big man" in the region.

No way Wilhoite should have been left off this list. However, we all know that this list means nothing.

I have seen Dixon play, and she is one of the top "big girls" in the region, but the region is dominate on guards and wing players. I feel some of these players are a little better. That is just one person's opinion. The top 7-8 players are all very good and one could make an arguement for any of them as being the best.

Individual player rankings are generally just not very good. It's so hard to compare girls across region who play on varying levels of teams. I dont want to talk about specific girls on this list, just overall hard to compare a player playing on a really good team who plays top state level competition game in and game out to one who plays on a lesser team against lesser competition. Numbers really have little impact in the discussion IMO.

 

I don't know how much the level of competition comes into play here. Any of the players on my list could play for another top level team in the region and do just fine and make that team better. All because the competition may be less as you say, dolsn't mean the player's talent level is less. JMO.

No, it just makes it hard to compare between players. It's why it's hard to take numbers into consideration. The best way to evaluate individual players is over the summer on the AAU circuits when the competition level is always high. That's one reason that's where you see college coaches, as opposed to high school games.

 

But that's sort of getting off track. Comparing players in the 8th region is almost an impossible task. I was just pointing out that nobody should get there panties in a wad over some list posted by somebody that has probably never seen half the team in the 8th region play even 1 game.
