Congrats to Lady Pioneers! Make it to the finals of REGION 8! :thumb:

SK 12 13 14 30 - 69

SH 8 13 9 19 - 49

(SK) BROWN 20 WAINSCOTT 19 leading scorers.

Very good game by Lady Pioneers tonight. (SK) BROWN may have had a dbl-dbl. One of the best all around games I have seen them play all season.

(SH) #34 went down with ankle injury and never returned however, (SK) had "D" down good tonight. I don't believe she would have made a difference except not quite as big a lead for SK!

(SK) faces ANDERSON who dodged a late bullit from WALTON. Game time scheduled for 7 PM tomorrow night at SK!

I don't know if I'd go that far. She is a calming presence out there for them, so even if she's not scoring, she can help them. And let's not forget her rebounding effort. It was, after all, just a four point lead at halftime.

That being said, I think the Lady Pioneers played a whale of a game, and never let Shelby even think about getting back into it in the second half. Good luck to the girls in the finals tomorrow night!

SK was definately the best team on the floor. Brown had a great game inside and Wainscott ran the show. Shelby got frustrated especially in the 4th quarter and a football almost broke out. The officiating left alot to be desired. Can't believe that those three are some of the best in the 6th Region!

Congrats to Simon. They are very deserving. However, u hate to have Shelby lose their best player in a close game. Not saying it would have changed the outcome, but u hate to see a kids season end like that.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that next year, the majority of coaches elect to keep the 8th region officials here at home. I know there's some that many don't like...but, at least you know what to expect. There's been a great fear of the unknown in the games so far. You just never know what's going to be called (or not called). :idunno:

For all those that complain about the 8th Region officials, they should be happy with what they have compared to what they can get.

I think they have been consistant. They will call hand checking and if you have been doing it all year, then I guess it would be hard to make the adjustment. They have missed some calls like those in the 8th region do. The 8th region officials like going out of the region from what I hear. When you have a certain team several times during the season and see and hear the same stuff when you officiate, I think the job becomes more difficult for them. These out of region guys have no fear of being scratched the next season and they don't really know who the best teams are and who the best players are going into the game.

Congratulations and good luck to SK and Anderson. Shelby and WV can hold their heads high as well.

They may call the hand checking and other tick tack fouls but not the muggings. I have seen no consistency between the crews. Some of them give the appearance that they don't even want to be here.

I agree. As announcers, we've been amazed by the numbers of whistles that haven't even been followed by a recognizable signal, or have been followed by the wrong signal even (for the situation).

I'm normally quick to defend refs, who I think get a bum rap. As a baseball umpire, I know how hard the job of officiating a game is, and I know how horrible I feel when I think I may have missed a call. But...

...how about the start of the SK-Shelby game tonight when the officials got confused about which team was going which way and had to stop the game 5 seconds in to clarify???

...or the blatant inconsistency between the first half of the SK-Shelby game and the second half. The players had to be stunned. In the first half, fewer than 10 fouls total were called as the officials let them play rough-and-tumble...in the second half, well over 20 fouls were called, and the game really hadn't become more physical...

Or the number of times officials have gotten in the way of the play during the girls' tournament? This has now happened several times in the 6 girls' games to date, sometimes affecting the play. This happens, but should happen only very rarely.

I'm not just talking about "missed calls" here...every official misses a call every now and then; even the best. But Madman's right...some of these refs seem almost bored (at worst) or lackadaisical about their job (at best).
