I saw the others start theirs, so I figured we shouldn't be left out.:thumb: Who do you see as the top teams and players in the 8th next year? Personally, I think it will be maybe the most interesting year in recent memory. To me, there is no clear cut #1 player or team. Much of the talent in the 8th is young, and it remains to be seen how consistent they can be. PLAYERS: (Next year's grade) Rianna Gayheart G, Owen Co., Soph One of the top scorers in the region. It will be interesting to see how she improves her game this offseason. Sydni Wainscott, G, Simon Kenton, Junior In one word: steady. Not a flashy point guard, but gets the job done. Can be deadly when left open. Kelli Dixon, F, Walton Verona, Junior Had a solid showing in the regional tournament. Could average a double/double this coming season. Tori Wilhoit, G, Williamstown, Junior A double/double nearly every night for Williamstown. Jordann McGuffin, G, South Oldham, Soph Could possibly be the best player in the region next year. A slashing guard with tons of athleticism. DARK HORSE Aaliyah Wells, F, Shelby, Fresh Although she had modest point and rebound production, it was obvious she is a force to be reckoned with in the future. Eriel McKee, F, Anderson, 8th Played her way into the rotation throughout the season. A key part of several games, she was selected for the 8th Region Tournament team. Sydney Brown, C, Anderson, Soph In and out of the starting line-up for Anderson all year long. Can be dominate at times, but consistency seems to be the key. TEAMS 1) South Oldham Very athletic and now experienced. 2) Owen Has potentially the region’s best player, coming off a 19 win season. 3) Simon Kenton Returning Brown, Ponzer, and Wainscott with the toughest defense in the 8th. 4) Oldham Coach Just does a great job, will be interesting to see what they look like in year two. 5) Shelby The Lady Rockets are looking to return to the regional tournament. Although, they lose their leading scorer (Lecompte), they return several guards and will see an improved Wells. OK. That's my take. What are your thoughts?

The 5th and 7th regions will be dog fights next year. There is so much talent there!

Russell is very solid. Fearless prediction: he will lead the game in rebounding.

Anderson hasn't been there in 12 years, so look for a large crowd.

After seeing all the top players, I think Alex Jones is the best high school senior in KY. Eastern has a steal!

Clifton and Martin had great careers, and Barnette will tear it up next year. It will be a while before we see a threesome like that.

If it comes down to a 30 ft buzzer beater, I like Anderson.

I'm leaving Bowling Green a fan of Montgomery. They play hard, play with passion, and are well coached. They have a lot to be proud of.

Lee was clutch down the stretch.

Was very excited to see Figgins play. She seems like a great kid.

Jones is helping her case. She had a nice game.

I think Martin and Clifton are phenomenal players. I think they are right in that second tier with Jones behind Mathies and Rainey.

I would say Tolliver's performance in the state tourny last year probably hurt her. In addition, some of the hype from Miss Basketball comes from AAU. If Tolliver is to be considered, I'd say this week is crucial. She must put Simon Kenton on her back and carry them in spectacular fashion. To see what that special week can do, look no farther than the player she will see in the first round, Kendall Noble. Noble's state tourny last season gave her exposure to a lot of people that might never see her play otherwise. It's the biggest stage for girls basketball and thus far Tolliver hasn't left much of an impression. Yet, obliviously one game does not make a career, and she's a special player. I just think that her performance in state last year goes into the equation, which I think was your question.

I would say he meant that most people with no allegiance pull for the underdog, which Anderson obviously is. I don't think it was a slap at SK. As for Tolliver for Ms. Basketball? She is a nice player, but not even in the conversation.

Evidentially, it’s become death, taxes, and Montgomery in the 10th as the certainties in life.
