paNDA Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 As seen on the Simon Kenton blog this morning, nice award to someone who has battled back to play the game she loves to play, SK Player Wins Patty Jo Hedges Ultimate Teammate Award At Sweet 16 Congratulations to Lyndsay Figgins for being awarded the Patti Jo Hedges Ultimate Teammate Award at the Sweet 16 Tournament. The award, sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC), is presented to the player whose unselfish style of team oriented play enhances their teams' overall tournament performance. Lyndsay received the plaque and a $1,000 scholarship from the KABC President and Patti Jo Hedges at the semifinal games this morning. The award was created by the KABC to promote and recognize the very essence of the game of basketball, "TEAM PLAY." Patti Jo Hedges was chosen as the marquee name for the award due to her stellar high school and college career that represented team play and self sacrifice for the overall success of their respective teams. The award is also presented to a boys player at the Sweet 16 in the name of Larry Conley. The working press at the state tournament selected Lyndsay for the award. Congratulations Lynds!
