This is an interesting topic. I am intrigued by the varsity and jv option for middle school. That is an idea. I also like the "A" and "B" team scenarios. This whole situation can be looked at from two sides. One side sees younger kids taking playing time from older kids when they have their own team, but what if you look at from the younger players eyes. Say their 6th. grade team is so good with them that they only get to play limited time because they are always leading and the second string is in. I don't know if this is the case, but I think that if I had a son who was years ahead in his game that I would want to have the option of playing him up.

I feel like given their schedule they will finish above .500. They have another big test tomorrow night at home against Brossart. They could very well start the season at 0 - 2. They are young and have room to grow and I am sure that Coach Snapp will get the best out of them. It's hard to tell after one game against Holmes exactly how good they are. They played a really good first quarter. They need to get better at controlling tempo and find someone else to contribute consistently on offense other than Ethan. I guarantee they will beat the teams they are supposed to and surprise a couple along the way.

Carson is a beast. This may be a common stat line for him this year.

Walter's answer was spot on. Holmes is that good this year. They are deep and do not let up. They can score from all over the place. Snapp looks to be Newport's only scorer. The other four starters are gritty and will fight for a while, but they cannot afford to go the bench at all yet. Which is why the game was so close after one quarter. Every sub for Newport cost them a couple points and Holmes was in a nice rotation without giving up anything the whole game.

Any idea what the U16 team will look like?

I didn't include Jalen Perry of Ballard cause I'm not sure if he will play 17 or 16U. I believe Perry is in the 2015 class at Ballard. He would have to play U17. Am I Correct? That is an impressive roster.

Adam will have a nice year at St. Henry. He is a super quick guard with good handles. I know he is putting a lot of time in the gym and had a really solid summer with his AAU team. I am looking forward to seeing him get some serious varsity time this year.

Look for Tyler Bezold to break out this year and take over for Holy Cross. He can really stroke it from behind the arc and is very consistent. He had a huge summer with the NKY Bulldogs. He is extremely fundamental, has a high basketball IQ, and a great shot.

Yes he is in his proper grade, but one of the younger players. Which is a good thing for Ethan because he has been able to develop his skill set without relying on a physical advantage. As he matures physically and adds more weight and strength he will only continue to improve. I can imagine he is going to turn quite a few heads this winter.

I understand not wanting to go to Arkansas and from what I saw the D1 and D2 tournaments did not field very well. The only drawback I see is that the D3 tournament is not an NCAA certified event. It would be nice to see one of these teams win it all though.

I just read where TBC Elite and the 606 Tropics have both won their opening round pool games at AAU DIII nationals. Congrats.

The NKY Bulldogs U15 and U16 teams competed in the GRBA National tournament this past weekend. The U16 group went to the silver bracket elite eight and the U15 group lost in the gold bracket finals by 1 point. The U15 group had nice wins over Common Bond from Michigan and the Indy Elite Club team. There were tons of coaches at this event and several of them stopped by to check out the Bulldogs.

Ethan is not as strong as Hatton was as a rising soph, but Snapp is very young for his grade. Really close to being considered as playing up a year. My point is that he will continue to mature physically for a while.

Last weekend he was playing with the U15 group. He has played with the U16's some and done well. He is a high caliber player and will continue to get better. This kid works and works and as he develops physically he will be a force.

Really good player with an amazing work ethic. He is having an outstanding year with the NKY Bulldogs. He put up 32 points last weekend in their championship win over Louisville Legends.

This is a NCAA certified event at the Spiece Fieldhouse starting on Thursday. I know the NKY Bulldogs U15 and U16 will be there. Any other teams from KY going? The Spiece Fieldhouse is one of the best venues ever IMO.

The Bulldogs are playing in the Bluechip Exposure Showcase at Midamerica this weekend and then heading to Ft. Wayne next week for their D1 national tournament. I'm sure they will be at this event next year because it is nice to play local after the Adidas event in Indy, but their schedule was set before Hoopfest was even announced this year.

I agree. I think this tournament will recover because Eddie runs a well organized event, but it may take a few years. There used to be tons of teams per age group.
