The NKY Bulldogs will be sending their U15 and U16 teams to Indy this week for the Adidas Invitational. There are over 100 teams per age group. I also saw where KY Elite, Louisville Magic, and TBC will be playing U15 there as well. Anyone else going to this event.

I know I have seen a lot of KY teams in the Adidas Invitational that is also in Indy this week.

I will have to agree with you. I thought Friday and Saturday games were very well officiated and Sunday was suspect at times.

The NKY Bulldogs - U15 group had a solid performance this weekend. They finished 3 - 2 on the weekend and advanced to the Elite 8 losing to the KY Heat. They had wins against Derby City Elite, KY Select Hawkins, and Bluegrass Sonics. Who by the way had an excellent shooter in Harrison Lane. This kid can stroke it from anywhere. The NKY Bulldogs only two loses were to KY Elite by 9 and KY Heat by 11. This game was actually a lot closer than the score represented. Late fouling added to the score. My hat goes off to the KY Heat for finding ways to win. I posed the question before the tournament about the division of talent at the U15 level and after this weekend, I feel that this age group is loaded. Any one of the elite 8 teams could had won this tournament. Congrats to all of the teams and the KBA for a great weekend of basketball.

TBC is going to be a tough out in the 15's and the KY Heat will be tough as well. The NKY Bulldog's U15 group is coming off of a solid weekend in Bloomington and should be pretty tough with their roster back in tact. 24 teams is a great turnout. Is there that much talent at the U15 level this year or is it just spread out over a lot of teams?

Playing at the Adidas May Classic The NKY Bulldogs U15 went 2 - 0 in pool play and won their opener of the gold bracket. They play tomorow against St louis Gateway.

I agree that either jv candidate could have had the same sucess. I like both of them as coaches and hope that they do well at the varsity level when they get there. I can only base my opinion on what I know to be a fact and that is that Snapp has run a varsity level program and had success. Be it against lesser competition or not.

Please be entitiled to your opinion. Everyone has one and that is what this site is for. You have basically discredited all of Snapp's varsity wins at Newport for one reason or another, and since you feel in your opinion that he is no more qualified than any of the JV coaches who have applied. Would you please tell me how many varsity wins they have combined and then we will compare them to Snapp's and see who has more experience running a varsity level program.

Your post seems like the axe is with Snapp and not his qualifications for the job. As pointed out, he has been able to produce wins with a tough program and to discredit a win against Dixie because Hatton was there. ??? You take the best player off of any team and it changes their potential. That is just silly. There are coaches in the region that never even make it to regionals and their name comes up everytime a "best coach" discussion comes up. Sanpp was a regional semi-finalist. He has done great for the Newport program and it would be a huge loss for them. If Ryle wants a coach who will get the most out of his players then Snapp is their man. If they want a figure head to just sit on the bench and make excuses why they can't win then maybe he is not. This is not to discredit the other JV coaches who have been mentioned, but I feel like Snapp has more than proved his experience as a program leader over them. They will be great coaches when they earn their opportunity, but if I'm Ryle I am going with Snapp.

I feel the same way about a group like this as I do a high school "athletic" transfer. If the parents are willing to go to lengths of moving a family or giving up custody so that the paperwork is in order. Then so be it. It is all on the up and up. I am sure when cross boundry rules and transfer rules were put in place the idea was to deter recruiting, but I bet they never had any idea what lengths parents would go to for sports advancement. If they are good in accordance with the rules set in place by whatever league or tournament they are playing then that is it. Play the game. I don't have to like it, but I respect it.

I have a question if anyone could answer. The 22 feet academy is playing in an aau type tournament at the KBA. It is not sanctioned so it does not apply here, but will they be able to play in say the aau state tournament which is sanctioned? I know the aau and ncaa events have limits on the number of cross boundry athletes and go as far as to say that the states must be adjoining. How does that apply to out of the country athletes who may be from several different countries.

There is an aau tournament this weekend at the KBA where a 22 feet academy freshman team is listed in a pool. Do they have teams at different grade levels?

Schedules have been posted for the Bearcat Classic: NKY Bulldogs will play Key Players, SMAC - Moody, & Indy EBC NKY Legends will play Ohio Unity, Dayton Metro, & Ohio Cagers WKY Sonics will play Next Level Retros, Dayton Pilots, & Shining Star - Zadelli Hoop Dreams will play Cincy Lakers, Shining Star - Clinkenbeard, & AAG There are 29 teams. Looks liek a good tournament.

I can not account for his actual age, but I do know that he is eligible to play U15 per the AAU guidelines. He played U14 at nationals last year with All Ohio Elite. That makes him eligible for a comparison to all other U15 players. He may be older, but he is not the only one. He is playing by the rules set forth by the governing body. The playing field tends to level out at the high school age anyway. The cream will rise to the top. Cumberland is a beast any way you put it.

Watch the youtube of the 2010 dunk contest at Spiece Fieldhouse and you might reconsider that. Montgomery could leap.

Travis Montgomery 2011 Boone County grad. Probably one of the all time best leapers in NKY.

This is sad. Todd is a great coach and an important piece to Boone County success over the recent years as a jv coach and his development of players on his aau teams. Coaches need to be allowed to coach.
