The two that return are obviously their two best players.....but if I remember correctly their JV was really weak. Trimble is going to need 2-3 kids really step up and play those supporting roles.

Coach Hood did a great job. Too bad parents ran him out. That being said, I think Coach Jefferson is very good. Oldham has some talent, would expect them to be #2 in that district.

Ranking Ryle low because they are young would be a mistake.

Bolus ranks who he has seen, with an obvious bias towards those kids who attend his camp. If you have a daughter and care if she appears on this list, shell out 200 bucks and send her to camp and she will Most likely be on his list. The problem is the only people that care about his list are the ones posting in this thread.

Gibson is athletic, big, and skilled. Looking forward to seeing how she plays this winter and next summer. Agree with both the previous two posts...she can play.

Honestly, nobody should care about this list. Especially when you are looking at the younger age levels.

Scherr has put herself in the conversation this summer as one of the best 2020's in America, yes. I wouldn't try to put a number on her right now, but she is no doubt one of the best.

14u is for girls who just completed their freshman year of high school...so she is playing up a year.

Not only does Kentucky get beaten every year, the media (in Kentucky) hardly covers this game anymore. Attendance in Kentucky has been abysmal for years and I just don't know how much longer they will continue to play this game.

there are facilities in the state that are much better equipped to hold the softball state tournament with its current format. Etown and Lexington (Cardinal Run) both come to mind...

You can't blame the schools that vote to draw...it is within their right and to their advantage. Until KHSAA mandates it, it is what it is.

I have seen every girl on the list play, as well as Ms. Creech, and I would take all 10 on this list above her. Look, her numbers are eye popping. I went and watched her play in the regional semi finals against Powell County. She scored 49 points, so it would be hard to say she had an "off" night. She's a sub 6 foot guard that's not a great athlete (good athlete, but not elite) and is a below average shooter. She's got good handles for an off guard...but is not going to every be confused for a point guard. She's crafty and scores well in the lane. Does a good job of getting to the free throw line. Powell played a soft zone and gave her all the threes and mid range jump shots she wanted. My guess is that if they had chased her, they were scared she would beat the chaser and score and/or get fouled. In the half court, the soft zone worked pretty well and made creech a jump shooter. She took a few threes (and made one I think) and several mid range shots. I didn't chart it but I would guess she didn't shoot a great percentage on jumpers...and they were basically uncontested. Again, the other team was so worried about her getting into the lane they just conceded those jump shots. She actually had a teammate who knocked down 4 or 5 threes and that really helped Jenkins. Where she really hurt Powell was in transition. When she got a rebound or loose ball she would take off down the floor and score almost every time. Powell had no one who could check or slow her down in transition. From what I have heard about her, that's definitely the strength of her game. She's far superior to those on her team and others in her area/region. It honestly looked like a 5th grade rec/upward league game where one team had the best player and she would just get the rebound and dribble down and score at will. Really hard to evaluate her because of the level of players on her own and the other team. As far as the other areas of her game, it's really hard to evaluate her ability to pass and make her teammates better. Her teammates were, for the most part, standing wide open because the defense sagged in and shaded themselves toward creech. To her credit, she passed to the one girl on her team that could hit open shots and Powell had to adjust to at least acknowledge this other girl was on the floor. Defensively, Jenkins played a zone with Creech in the middle. It's obvious she's been coached to not commit a foul. I don't want to say she's not a good defender, but I was simply unable to really evaluate her ability to defend because she was not asked to do it. I am not saying that it was wrong...if she had gotten into foul trouble Jenkins would have gotten destroyed...but it made it impossible to tell if she could be a plus defender or not. I will say this, I have only seen her play ONCE. However, from what I saw, I would not recruit her if I was a D1 coach. Just too many questions for me. I haven't seen too many (any?) sub 6 foot guards who weren't elite athletes AND were below average shooting the basketball make good college players. I am sure WKU saw her play in the summer against better competition and they obviously were comfortable enough with her game. I am anxious to see how she does in the KY-IN all star game as well as her college career at WKU. I am rooting for her...I think her story is great and she seems like a great kid from everything I have read...but I do feel that the 10 players selected are better then Creech.

Probably a poor choice of words. I was responding to the guys post above who said it was unfortunate there were two great players this year. She's a good player. She doesn't belong in elite class with recent players like Boley, epps, hammonds, Greenwell etc.

Creech isn't that good. She's got incredible scoring numbers bc of the team she plays on and the competition she plays against. She's not the 2nd best player in her class. She might be in the top 5, but that's only because this class isn't super strong.

NKU did a great job IMO of hosting. But they aren't a central location and there's nothing they can do about that.

Well the state sends winners from 16 regions separated by geography. The people that attend the girls state tournament usually are there because their team is in it. You don't think Murray would have had a better crowd in a more central location? Same for several of those teams. Look I think th facility is great, but it's hard to hold a state championship in a corner of the state.

WKU is a lot more central then NKU. It doesn't matter what the "name" of the university is. I cannot speak on attendance, but it did seem like there were less people at the tournament overall. But we don't have to debate that...they have actual numbers for attendance (and I dont know what those were).

I get that...I am not passing judgement. I am simply pointing out that there are some people who feel that while those actions aren't illegal they do cross the line.
