hydraman Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Latest Bolus Rankings out. I know some people aren't high on his rankings, but at least he's doing it for girls. Aren't many of those. Good for pre season fodder http://kyprephoops.com/1617/2016SepKYGirls.pdf
hydraman Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Would love to hear whose missing? Where should they fall in the rankings? As I mentioned there aren't many people ranking girls Ky basketball players. So instead of childish anti comments, how about some evidence and/or discussion to back up thoughts. I don't know a ton of girls around the state but the ones I have seen are represented pretty well on this list. Whose missing? Where should they be in the ranking? Whose too high? Too low? Why?

Didn't see Schwartz from Ryle. Schwarber (camp co) is too low, as is Held (cooper). Both as good as Clos and some feel better. Barth (HHS) is too low. Kamari Graham (Holmes) way too high. Missing some Sophs from Conner and HHS. There's others but have only taken one glance so far. Those just stood out right away.

Chames from HC (frosh) The other big in the 8th for HC. Both got varsity minutes last year as 7th and 8th graders. Think chames is 6' 1" and the other is 6' 2".
WKY Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Everyone needs to just accept the fact that he only ranks who he has seen. I don't blame him for not putting kids he has not seen play on his list. Would you vouch for someone you didn't know for a job? Same story different chapter here. Before anyone responds that he should try to see everyone if he's going to do a list, I would be thankful that anyone does a list at all for Kentucky. Rick Bolus is not the only person to blame either. A lot of kids don't get exposure because they don't attend the right camps or don't play in the right exposure events. We also shouldn't be naive. This list is meant to promote his camp and give a reason for parents to want to send their kids there.
WKY Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I for one am very glad to see so many girls from the 8th district on his list
Dixiefan1 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 "We also shouldn't be naive. This list is meant to promote his camp and give a reason for parents to want to send their kids there" Knocked that one out of the park!
Jesse James Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Is Hannah Langhi the daughter of Dan Langhi? Yes.

Great thoughts! Does seem like the NKY crowd is not well represented on the list. I agree on some of your thoughts. Schwartz and Schwarber too low or missing. I'm guessing Graham is the smaller guard that came off the bench last year for Holmes. Definitely too high. Kia Sivils should be way higher, she has committed to a good D1 school, Marshall, already! The 9th grade list is obviously not very developed, so no surprise the Holy Cross girls are missing. Chames will be hard not to notice this season.
What Say You Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 "We also shouldn't be naive. This list is meant to promote his camp and give a reason for parents to want to send their kids there" Knocked that one out of the park! Agreed but do see several girls that are on it that have never been to his camp. Niece from SK is one I believe. A couple others as well.

This list is meant to promote his camp and give a reason for parents to want to send their kids there" Knocked that one out of the park! I think we should try to be fair with this. What scouting service doesn't recruit for their camps? ESPN maybe? Like others have said, at least Bolus is trying to do a Kentucky only girls list. Are there any others at all for girls? And although attending a Bolus camp will definitely help you get on the list, I know they attend and watch games and rank from that also. I can't say for sure but I doubt all of the top 25 2017s have attended one of his camps. Hence why I think Louisville area players have an advantage with this ranking. I think Bolus and his team are out of that area.
Jesse James Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 If you all want to see some real rankings, look at All Star Girls Report( Bret McCormick lives in Northern Kentucky and has seen basically every player that can play in this state), ESPN, Peach State, PASS. Anything other than these are bogus including these by Bolus. I am amazed that this list is being discussed to anyone who knows anything about girls basketball. That may seem harsh, but its truth. What it is good for every year is talk by parents. I will give Bolus that. I asked a well known college coach in Kentucky the other day "what do you think about Bolus new rankings?" His response was " who is Bolus" That should tell anyone all they need to know.
ACourt&ADream Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 I hear ESPN is the most reliable and most respected. Here's a link you can view by graduation year and by state. 2017 2017 High School Girls' Basketball Recruiting Prospects - ESPN 2018 2018 High School Girls' Basketball Recruiting Prospects - ESPN 2019 2019 High School Girls' Basketball Recruiting Prospects - ESPN The list doesn't go past this date but it does list by state.
