No. I Personally know several girls on that list that never attended. Also his camp was held same week as Battke in Boro. Can't think of one real ball player from Kentucky that was not in Nashville the week of his camp.

Great, we all know ones that didn't attend. However, it's not really that tough to rank the first teams and top tier players. So when someone says "so and so didn't attend" and they are a player that everyone knows, that's really not justification that he only promotes "his" girls. If he didn't put the top players in the state (that don't attend his camp), he would get no respect.

 

I really could care less about his rankings. For me, it's just fodder on here. Like Jesse said "who is Bolus?"

If you all want to see some real rankings, look at All Star Girls Report( Bret McCormick lives in Northern Kentucky and has seen basically every player that can play in this state), ESPN, Peach State, PASS. Anything other than these are bogus including these by Bolus. I am amazed that this list is being discussed to anyone who knows anything about girls basketball. That may seem harsh, but its truth.

 

What it is good for every year is talk by parents. I will give Bolus that.

 

I asked a well known college coach in Kentucky the other day "what do you think about Bolus new rankings?" His response was " who is Bolus" That should tell anyone all they need to know.

 

Problem with all those rankings is they are not for Kentucky. For ESPN, there is one KY girl on 2019's, Cameron Browning. And five 2018s that don't even include Seygan Robbins or Ally Neice. The other services listed you can't even get their rankings without paying a thousand dollars, obviously for colleges only. I doubt they are very exhaustive for Kentucky either. Everybody hates on Bolus, but like I've said, I don't think anyone else is taking the time to rank hundreds of Kentucky girls? 95 percent of the girls on Bolus rankings will never get the attention of all the services you listed. Just because girls aren't big time Kentucky Premier players doesn't mean they shouldn't get some attention. I couldn't find the Sivils girl from Sacred Heart on any lists and she's got an offer from Marshall. Bolus list might not be perfect but can it really be completely bogus when no one else is taking the time to rank these girls? I just think we should give him credit for what he is doing.

Everyone needs to just accept the fact that he only ranks who he has seen. I don't blame him for not putting kids he has not seen play on his list. Would you vouch for someone you didn't know for a job? Same story different chapter here. Before anyone responds that he should try to see everyone if he's going to do a list, I would be thankful that anyone does a list at all for Kentucky. Rick Bolus is not the only person to blame either. A lot of kids don't get exposure because they don't attend the right camps or don't play in the right exposure events. We also shouldn't be naive. I just personally love the fact that he lists so many girls on this list, who my daughter will completely shut down and not allow them to do anything offensively when they are supposed to be top notch division 1 or division 2 players! I wish all of the kids luck and success on their seasons!

Cameron will be good! But my 5'5" daughter and her 5'6" friend have done a number on her in the past. Played her several times and they have neutralized her even with her size. Better be stronger or size means nothing.

 

Bolus is fine. But there are several girls that can play that arent on the list. If you want the most exposure, you better migrate over to KY premier. They have the name and recogonition that brings the scouts. Once you're a sophomore and you haven't migrated to KY Premier, then you're gonna struggle to get the most exposure in KY. You don't have to have aspirations of D1,any level is going to draw attention to KY Peimier.

My post had nothing to do with Kentucky Premier. My post had to do with the list. My point if is this, if you are only going to do a Kentucky list, one state, at least get it right. How many high school games you all saw Bolus at? Just saying.

Im fine with Bolus too actually. just tired of everyone complaining so referred them to the big scouting services. ESPN makes a good point, you must get their attention, doesn't matter what team you"re on. They see lots of girls play that are not ranked.

 

Also, those KY girls did not get ranked as a result of KY Premier. Stinson and a few others do not even play for KY Premier. But every player that plays for whatever team in the USA has an opportunity to get noticed by them. It doesn't matter the team and that's proven by the rankings.

Exactly my thoughts. Bolus attends events just like the other scouting services. It's not just about his camp.

Also, everyone should take into consideration that some players get better and are seen in the summer after and during transformation. So Bolus preseason rankings are not surprising. Some of these players we haven't seen since March and just because someone was really good in 9th grade or last year doesn't mean others did not work hard, mature, or whatever and are now maybe better than the usual names we all hear. Sometimes a player gets too comfortable being a hometown hero and doesn't work as hard the others or doesn't rise to the occasion during evaluation period and they don't stand out as they do in high school due to competition.

 

Also, i've seen coaches like Eastern quote Bolus rankings in a players bio. So apparently some college coaches know who he is.

 

Its not about the team or what certain individuals/fans think. It's about getting your kid noticed and 90% of that comes from their hard work. If some of these girls have never attended a Bolus camp but are on the list, I'm ok with it. He captured KY.

Like someone else said on here. Want college coaches watching and from KY..play for premier. They've got kids "outkicking the coverage" cause the team they're on. Not saying you won't get college $ elsewhere but best bet!

Just for helping me to understand, when you say "outkicking the coverage" you mean girls getting attention beyond their skill set? I have wondered about a couple 2018 girls that are considered top girls from Premier, if they're as good as the attention they get? I've only seen a couple very few times and wasn't tremendously impressed. But to be fair, I've seen very little. Is that what you mean though?

Sure! Was a little different when my kids went through but good for girls in our state. There are other big time players not with them but those that are seem to get extra credit!!

If college coaches are zeroed in on a kid, they attend high school games. If they are shopping, they go to AAU stuff. It only stands to reason that there are more kids with college potential in a group of 100 teams than there are on 2 high school teams.

 

I would say that most college coaches hide their eyes at how some AAU teams play----less defense and usually less teamwork??? That's just from what I have seen----I am sure there will be differing views!
