This game will tell us what kind of a team southwestern is. If they can keep it close they're for real.

When we played Highlands a couple of years ago up there I walked over and checked out the cannon. The crew said they had just taken over for a crew that had operated for years and were happy to tell us all about it. They seemed very knowledgeable about it and knew what they were doing. It is a very cool civil war replica fireing black powder. When they fire it, it really rocks the house. This must have been a freak accident. I don't think they should get rid of the cannon maybe take extra precautions or something. You accept risk every time you get in a car, or airplane, or a kid suites up. I certainly hope he recovers soon and he is able to live a good life with his injury.

Congratulations Monroe on a great season, you earned alot of respect statewide. Take a well deserved break, then get in the weight room and get ready to go a step futher next year. Good luck Fort Campbell next week, a lot of people will be pulling for you.

Green County did good advancing to that game by beating Danville. They had a good year but Monroe beat them twice, at home and on the road. Trust me there are some pretty crappy visitor locker rooms around the state and hostile places to play. Check out the Pulaski visitor sidelines, a swamp in a drought. Just go to Bell County period. I could go on all day but Monroe County is as good a place to play as anywhere. The refs are also from another region this time of the year. Congratulations Green on a good season but you lost to the same team twice, good luck next year.

Whitley hasen't gotten much respect all year but their still around. If the Highlands players think they already have this one won like their fans it will be a very long ride back up 75.:thumb:

There are some impressive coaches all over with a lot of wins Bowden, Perterno and others but their not the ones everyone are looking at this year. Sure the Bell County coach is good but I feel Boyle County has finally found the man to replace Smith. It'll just be a matter of time before he has an impressive win count.

Green County does have a very good team, Monroe is better.:thumb:

Why would think that? Monroe already beat them is Greensburg this year.

I know eveyone tends to go with the traditional powerhouses but sometimes things change. Fort Campbell has a great team but this Monroe County team is for real this year and hopefully John Petett is building one of those powerhouses there.

Bell County can be a difficult place to play, one of the most hostile venues in the state. Bolye simply has better athletes with more speed, plus they are better coached.

Yea Highlands has a great tradition, and experience can make a big difference. But unlike the NFL where you may have the same players for years this is high school and these are this years kids. As long as the Whitley County kids continue to believe in themselves and don't care who Highlands is they have at least a even chance. It's going to be all in the mental preparation who wins this game. Should be an awsome game to be at and may make the trip.

I still think they should promote coach Allen to the Head Coaches job. He was outstanding at Southwestern and would make a great head coach.:thumb:

I think everyone is underestimating Letchers defense. I've saw both teams play. Letcher is the most underated team in the class.

Danville is always very good although this is not one of their better teams. I don't think anyone is going to be intimidated by them though, they will have to win it on the field which ever team they play. I believe Sam Clark was the first Monroe County coach after the consolidation. Monroe by 14.

Hines has no class

Well now let's continue down the Hines train of thought. Somerset beat Wayne 41 to 7, Wayne beat Pulaski 34 to 28. Let's see here that would make Somerset a 40 point better team than Pulaski. In my opinion the Hines statement about Somerset seems to be just another example of his no class kind of arrogance. It is also my understanding that Somerset will play Pulaski in the Ray Correll Bowl next year.

These teams are very similiar to each other. Both play hard hitting in your face football. However Letcher has too much of a line for Mercer on both sides of the ball. Letcher will come out the winner.

I've watched both teams play this year, one early in the season one late in the season, sometimes teams evolve. Green County is a harder hitting team but Danville is faster. This should be one of he more interesting games of the week. I believe it could be close but Danville should walk away with the win.
