  1. The Warriors looked good in the first half, Central Harden scored first with a field goal, then the Warriors scored the next 21. The second half Central Hardin did a much better job on defense. They also started to take advantage of the Southwestern secondary. With the score 21 to 18 near the end of the game and Central Hardin passing well, the field goal attempt left me scratching my head. Mote did pretty good filling in for King and has probably earned some playing time even when King is back. Central seemed to start keying on Mote more. I think the Warriors need to utilize a couple of their other backs and mix it up more. It doesn't matter if it's King, Mote or anyone else no one back can do it all. I think this was the Warriors best effort since the Mercer County game. We actually heard a couple of hits.
  2. Wayne beat Russell, Russell beat Somerset, Somerset beat Wayne, go figure. I don't think Wayne can handle Monroe, they're looking very good and their only loss was too a very tough Greenwood.
  3. Glad to see Lincoln get a win, they needed a little confidence builder. They have some potential.
  4. It was an exciting game to watch as expected. Both teams played hard and put on a good show. What I don't understand is why the Warriors would continue to kick to Adners side of the field. With a few exceptions Southwestern is missing too many tackles, maybe they need to go back to tackle school. Mote had a good night stepping up and running the ball with King probably not 100%. Pulaski seemed to be able to pass at will, Southwesterns secondary needs some work. I believe Southwestern only had one fumble, a big improvement.
  5. I believe Lincoln will be much better next year. However South Laurel will score at will. South Laurel by 30 or more.
  6. After the initial confortation was stopped involving several players an official was laying on Dunbars number fifty five on the ground holding him down another altercation involving several players broke out a few feet away. There were at least five security guards on the field along with coaches. There probably could have been several ejected on both teams.
  7. Southwestern was without their starting QB to start with. Then their strongest offensive weapon number two went out early with a shoulder injury. The first half was called pretty good but in the second half there was some terrible missed calls then finally a braw involving every player on the field. The officials had too much input in the outcome of the game. The Warriors did not play to their potential once again, some real mental mistakes. Then take a team that doesn't show the kind of heart of previous Warrior teams, blue collar teams that loved to hit somebody. I'm sure they try but they just don't play with the same intensity. Maybe they will get it together before the season is over.
  8. It looks like neither team is playing much defense, and Pulaski has the more high powered offense. Pulaski by at least 14.
  9. This is a Southwestern team loaded with talent. I think they are playing well below their potential. It seems to me it's the mental mistakes when the heat is on. They move the ball 98 yards against Danville and don't score. They mount drives and are stopped at least four times inside the ten against Mercer. Most of these kids have too much experience to make these mistakes. It's sad to watch so many work so hard and come up short. Still they're three and two. I think Southwestern is still in charge of their own destiny. I believe they have the physical ability, the question is whats inside the team as a whole. They had better be properly motivated Friday or it will be a long trip home. If they are, look out.
  10. Southwestern left at least four freshmen home that get varsity time. Also some Sophmores. No one on the field gets varsity time. In a game like this they should have took some of those freshmen and sophmores. Boyle is strong this year and could have won this game without the officials. The officials were terrible.
  11. Offense is great but defense wins titles. It sounds like no one has any. This had to have been a real thriller though.
  12. My hats off to Lincoln County, they made it a better game than the score indicated. Take away three or four big plays and it's a tie game. No one dominated any one. I think Lincoln County eager to prove a few people wrong shocked a bunch of overconfident egos in the first half. Then when the second half started the Warriors finally took to the field. If Lincoln County had any receivers that could hold onto the passes, they would have racked up several points. Their quarterback was on target enough and receivers open enough. It just seemed Southwestern played a lot more defense than offense. Kidd seemed to have a great game on defense for Southwestern. It wasn't the same Southwestern team that played Mercer last week. Let's hope that bunch will be at the Dunbar game.
  13. Lincoln County dosen't have the running game Mercer does, or the passing game South Laurel does. I don't think they will be able to run the ball much on Southwestern. The question is can they pass on Southwestern. Southwestern has had four in a row on the road, the last three against strong opponents. This is the first home game of the year for Southwestern. Southwestern big in this one.
  14. Number 12 for Southwestern fumbled twice inside the five and another time inside the ten. They also threw an interception or two, one lead to a Mercer TD. Maybe they will meet again in the playoffs.
  15. Mercer wasn't as strong as I thought. Southwestern beat themselves, it's that simple. Southwestern fans left more disgusted than disappointed. Mercer does have some good backs though and a good running game. They made some really strong runs around the outside for big gains. Southwestern had trouble containing. It was a good old fashion hard hitting game fun to watch. I would like to see a rematch. Four times in the red zone and Southwestern don't score, three fumbles inside the five. Enough said.
  16. Southwestern has trouble with their pass defense. That's how Danville and South Laurel hurt them. As I understand it Mercer is mostly a running offense. Southwestern is better at run defense. This should keep the score lower. I am looking forward to this one.
  17. This should be a low scoreing game won or lost in the trenches.
