Have to put Chandler Shepherd on the short list. Arthur kid from Boyd County pitched really well against West Jessamine and Lawrence County last year on a bad hamstring so he may be a sleeper this season.

Finally got someone to take them back? The guy he replaced took them to the state tournament. As I said above Greisser is a great hire for Montgomery and a close personal friend, but let's not downplay the job Coach Rison did at Montgomery.

It depends on the school system, whether they abide by KRS statutes, etc. Also depends on the superintendent and if they listen and are swayed by powerful members of the community. I've pretty much seen it all over the years and the one thing that is consistent is that politics usually play a big roll in the hiring and firing of coaches. Some districts don't even follow KHSAA guidelines when hiring coaches, for example Bath County hired a non-certified person as head coach of it's high school softball team even though they had applications from certified teachers in the district, but it was just kind of slipped through and nothing was said.

Gonna take Fairview since it's at their place by 7. Should be a good game.

Woodford by at LEAST 4 touchdowns.

Ashland 35 Greenup 7. If Ashland comes to play and doesn't have a bounce off the Woodford win, the score will be even worse.

This guarantees the two seed to the Ashland/Bryan Station winner. Ashland has the tiebreaker over Woodford on head to head. Although it could theoretically end up a three way tie if Station were to beat Ashland giving all three teams 2 wins and even in the head to head. That's assuming none of them beat Johnson Central. The best Woodford and hope for is the 3 seed now.

Final was 35-7 and Bryan Station could have tacked on another one within the last minute but was stopped on the 1. This loss knocks Montgomery from the playoffs and gives Bryan Station their first district win.

I agree totally. I've been to a couple of games this season where I couldn't even carry on a conversation about the game with the person next to me due to the PA man constantly listening to himself talk. I like having the PA but some do not realize it's not play by play announcing.

This is prime example of how the class system in Kentucky has gotten messed up. Here you have two teams that are 2 hours apart in the same district. I really feel for the Ashland kids who have three teams, Station, Woodford, and Montgomery that are at least 1 1/2 hours away.

I'm taking Lawrence County 27-12.

Montgomery and Bryan Station play tomorrow night at Montgomery which will most likely determine who the 4th team in is. A lot will shake out tomorrow night after these two games, Montgomery loses they're out, Montgomery wins, then Bryan Station would have to beat Ashland, and hope that Ashland loses to Woodford, Johnson Central and to Station which would create a threeway tie. Whew wee. Head is spinning. If Woodford beats Ashland tomorrow they lock up the 2 seed correct? They've already beaten Montgomery and Station.

Good point Painter. Woodford's line from what I can tell, (I didn't go to that game but listened to it on the radio and spoke with people who did go to the game), is a lot stronger than Boyd's. You're right Boyd's pass protection is absolutely awful. Also, I think Woodford's receivers are a little more skilled than Boyd's. I'm not sure Ashland has played an offense like Woodford's yet this year. Should make for an interesting game.

Did find out tonight that Cody may get to come home tomorrow, so that's always a good sign. Great kid, I hope he's able to get back and play basketball this season.

Duckworth is not quicker than Zac Wilson of Boyd and he couldn't make the edge and ran for his life the whole game. I think Ashland's team speed and strong D-line play are going to give Woodford's offense fits.

Yipes! Jeepers Creepers! Good Gravy! Great Googly Moogly! Not sure you can call this a "rivalry" this year. B.C. has got to start stepping it up if they want to catch back up with the Tomcats. One observation that I did make during the Ashland/Boyd varsity game Friday was that Ashland's players, especially the big uglies, seem to be way better conditioned than Boyd's. Anyone else get that impression?

Should be Bath big in this one. Can't see Morgan keeping it any closer than 4td's.

You guys haven't really mentioned the important factor here. If the umpire makes the correct call, this isn't an issue. It's the umpire's mistake, he shouldn't be thrown by a coach yelling balk or anything else.

Combs has done a fantastic job with this field. It had really run down over the past few years from a once great facility and Coach Combs has returned the luster to this field. If anyone has a picture of Lee County's field where Combs came from you'll see the same thing. Immaculate. Gene eats, sleeps, breathes baseball and it shows. Of course if anyone has a picture of Boyd County's field it's a nice facility as well. I know Bath County just built a new field and have heard it's nice. Estill County also has a pretty nice field.

IMO Elliott needs to develop more of an inside presence to contend with Scott, GRC, Holmes and others. That 4 out 1 in offense works great when you're hitting threes, but not if you're cold. Rose Hill proved that in the All A. I really think Clark County will be awfully tough come tournament time and will be battle tested coming out of the 10th with Mason and Montgomery. But hey it's wide open this year.

Montgomery seems to have the wind out of them, plus losing Cody Curtis will really hurt. Too much to overcome to beat the Station. IMO. Tough game to schedule for homecoming too! Anyone have an update on how the Curtis kid is doing? Last I heard he was recovering but it was a major hole in his intestine and extremely dangerous. Glad he's alright.
