Thought it would be interesting to start a thread for those who have pictures of their High School Fields to post.

 

I'll start off with a picture of Whitaker Field home of the Montgomery Co Indians.

 

Dimensions 320 down the lines and 380 to center.

Bermuda grass over seeded with rye and Marmix dirt infield. Great playing surface.

Coach Combs, staff and players do an outstanding job of maintaining this facility. He's first class and this photo, can represent the endless hours he puts in.

That's a great picture! Coach Combs does a fantastic job not only with the field, but with the kids, both on the field and in the classroom! :thumb:

Please find one, I've heard a lot of good things about Corbin and Pulaski's fields. Also, I would like to see a picture of Letcher's new field. I've heard they went with Bermuda over seeded with rye. Wouldn't expect anything less from Coach Dean since he came up under Coach Combs.

Wish we could get one like this in the 9th region. St. Henry's a very nice field but not close to the level that that Mont. Co., Corbin, St. X, Male, etc.

Hazard also has a very nice baseball field. It is a very impressive ball field with a beautiful back drop

Thanks for the link:thumb: Corbin does have a nice field! Looks like Coach Garmon takes a lot of pride in their field. What are the dimensions and type of grass they have on their field?

Great results from coaches who actually become hands on in their fields! You can also tell they do research on field related items and materials. Just like students in a classroom, if the coach goes out and prepares hard the results will be very clear! Great job and good example for others to learn from.

Coach Combs could put on clinics on how to take care of your facilities. He has done a wonderful job regardless of where he has been and the hand that has been dealt him. KUDOS and great picture.

Corbins' and Montgomery's fields look awesome, but I am curious about something. It's rather rare to see light poles in the OF as they seem to have (Corbin's appear to be more straightaway and lower than Montgomery's). In pros, yes, because the lights are so high, but most high school fields are lit from poles running down the base lines. Do the hitters at these fields field ever experience any issues picking up the pitch?

A numer of schools when putting in new lights are getting the two poles set in the outfield. The metal poles are higher than the wood ones being replaced and are positioned so that they don't affect the hitting background. No more dark alleys. :thumb:

McCreary Central has had very, very nice fields since the days of Darrell Denney. Since then, current coach Marc Taylor has kept the field immaculate.

 

Denney is now groundskeeper for the Tennessee Smokies, the AA Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, I believe.

Letcher Co. Centrals new field. Looks like a really nice facility :thumb:
