No confusion. You guys complained both years. The field got progressively worse as the construction at the school took away more and more of the land that had been used for football practice until in 2004 they practiced and played on the field. Yes it was a mess because of over use.

I remember well. I couldn't help but chuckle when I learned that one of the very few (only?) games that was cancelled that night was one of the very few that would have been played on turf. Dixie defeated Conner at Dixie that night. During the week, us Dixie fans had to endure the complaints from Highlands fans about the state of Dixie's field (which was not good) since Dixie had defeated Highlands in OT the week before and many Highlands fans thought the muddy field hurt Highlands more than Dixie.

Are you sure? I believe he lives in Southgate and attended Southgate schools. Since Southgate does not have a high school, I believe the school district pays a certain amount to attend Newport, Highlands, or Campbell Co. Most choose Newport since the amount the Southgate school district pays covers the entire cost for Newport. If the student chooses to attend Highlands or Campbell Co they have to pay the difference not covered by the Southgate school district.

Oh the irony!:lol: It's this time of year where you appreciate the new field the most. I look for a low scoring game. The key to the game will be Dixie's D not giving up the big play. Grey and Murray are capable of taking it to the house but I believe the Dixie D will be up to the task. Dixie 17 Ryle 14

Both teams had safeties. With 10 seconds left Dixie took a safety on 4th down with Dixie leading 18-15. Dixie kicked off to Campbell with 5 seconds left and the game ended with the Campbell Co returner was tackled.

From my point of view Holmes is what they usually are. They have two or three athletes that catch your attention but overall they don't have the depth of talent to be a winning team.

They only way this game is close is if SK mails it in. I say they won't. SK 42 Conner 14

If Trinity wins a state title this year I don't believe the list of teams that they play will be significantly different than any other year despite the changes in the system. When was the last time Trinity won a state title and didn't play either Male or X?

Is his Dad the coach of New Richmond? Perhaps they make exceptions if a parent works in the school district.

I understand that the field will have short dimensions. It is supposed to be symetrical with the right and left field lines somewhere between 300' and 310' and ceterfield about 350'. There are also talk about putting up a screen down the lines to prevent any balls hitting cars on Kenton Lands Rd. along the rightfield line or cars in the school parking lot along the left field line.

In the past I have been critical Dale Mueller and some of the decisions he has made that I thought showed a lack of sportsmanship and consideration for the kids on the other side of the field. Therefore, I feel it's only appropriate to commend Dale when he make decisions which do indicate consideration for the opponent. Specifically, I am talking about the onside kick to start the game. There have been instances in the past where Highlands has been up 28-0 or 35-0 when Dale has called for the onside kick. This almost always is interpretted by the other team and their fans as an attempt to humiliate them and predictably generates animosity toward Highlands. The main argument in support of Dale has always been that Highlands may have to execute an onside kick later in the year when Highlands is behind in an important game and you can't completely simulate game conditions during practice. My response has always been that Highlands doesn't have to wait until the score is 28-0 (or worse). There are games that Dale knows he has the better team and there would be no risk involved in an onside kick with the score 14-0, 7-0 or even 0-0. In this game Dale was able to get his onside kick in game conditions without generating any ill-will which benefits both Highlands and high school football in general. Dale also substituted liberally (his star RB had only 8 touches) so despite the one-sided nature of the score there haven't been any posts about Highlands running up the score. IMHO, this is the way it should be and I take this opportunity to commend Dale.

Sorry for the confusion but it appears that the three of you understood every word I posted but missed my point entirely! I "called out" those I listed specifically because I thought it would be understood that they would not have an axe to grind against the Camels and therefore represent objective opinions from other parts of the state. Again, sorry for the confusion.

When was the last time LSURock's team lost to the Camels?

I guess it took a winning season by Campbell Co to bring out the Camel haters All Tell, LSURock, The Scribe, and LCRW.

Overall I thought Dixie played well for 3 quarters. The 4th quarter was sloppy for both teams. Dixie is still making unforced errors which they will need to eliminate if they expect to win any more games this year. You just can't dig a hole for yourself against good teams like Campbell Co, Ryle and whoever they play in the playoffs. The good news is that they made fewer this week. Holmes was competitive in this game although Dixie clearly was the better team. I was surprised that Holmes didn't get Jefferson more touches earlier.

Any details on the game? I had heard that that game was tied 14-14 so I was surprized to see the final. Campbell Co is for real. Dixie will have their hands full next week.

I predict that Kramer will score every other time he touches the ball.

Facilities is not the problem. Until this year Scott has had the best facilities in the school district for 25+ years and Dixie has had the worst. Open enrollment hurts some but it's not the main problem either. Scott had a losing program before there was open enrollment. Mustang is right on the money when he says that Campbell Co is the model for Scott. Get a coach who convinces the students to come out for the team and when they win a few football games open enrollment and facilities will be a moot point. However, finding just the right coach is a lot harder than saying you need to find that guy.

That was the story of the whole game - interception at the goal line, interception at the 10 yard line, bad snap at the 5 yard line resulting in a 20 yard sack. I could go on but you get the idea.

This was an exciting game with a plethora of big plays despite the low score. Dixie outplayed Boone in every respect except for the only stat that counts. Congratulations Boone for grinding out the victory.
