Hardee har har!

Hardee har har!

I couldn't resist.

Birds played well.Actually very well. A lot of starters played very little of the second quarter. Kramer did his usual great stuff. Conner ran well. Cecil played another very good game.

Got to give Grant some props also. I really like those kids. They were way out manned but still played hard. Keep the faith boys and keep working hard.

Birds, lets get ready for S. Oldham. Can't look past them to CovCath. One game at a time. Good job tonight. Work hard.

How many yards and tds did Kramer have????

Kramer with 118 yards and 4 TD's. Can't remember how many carries, but it was very few.

Blitzkreig. Before Grant knew what hit them, it was over. Starting with the opening on side kick and for the rest of the first quarter, Grant was way back on their heels. It was 28-0 at the end of the quarter. Several offensive starters came out early in the second. Rotating subs were in on defensive starting with the second or third series. JVs got a lot of time last night. After they play Trinity today, they are going to be some very, very tired puppies. But suck it up boys and play Trinity hard.

I continue to like the Grant kids. I don't know if its because I used to work down that ways or what. But they always seem to play hard; never drop their head when they are getting beaten, even when its bad; don't seem to lose their composure; don't take cheap shots; keep playing hard; are a disciplined team; and seem to be in shape and well conditioned. Not many out of shape linemen out there. Actually I didn't see any.

Keep the faith coach. You are on the right track. Players, listen to your coaches, keep working hard and keep believing in yourselves. While last night's score had to be disappointing, just shake it off and keep improving. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is a great football program. What you are doing is being noticed and respected.

Congrats to Highlands, and it sounds like Grant is on the beginning steps of building a solid program so good luck with that.

In the past I have been critical Dale Mueller and some of the decisions he has made that I thought showed a lack of sportsmanship and consideration for the kids on the other side of the field. Therefore, I feel it's only appropriate to commend Dale when he make decisions which do indicate consideration for the opponent. Specifically, I am talking about the onside kick to start the game. There have been instances in the past where Highlands has been up 28-0 or 35-0 when Dale has called for the onside kick. This almost always is interpretted by the other team and their fans as an attempt to humiliate them and predictably generates animosity toward Highlands. The main argument in support of Dale has always been that Highlands may have to execute an onside kick later in the year when Highlands is behind in an important game and you can't completely simulate game conditions during practice. My response has always been that Highlands doesn't have to wait until the score is 28-0 (or worse). There are games that Dale knows he has the better team and there would be no risk involved in an onside kick with the score 14-0, 7-0 or even 0-0. In this game Dale was able to get his onside kick in game conditions without generating any ill-will which benefits both Highlands and high school football in general. Dale also substituted liberally (his star RB had only 8 touches) so despite the one-sided nature of the score there haven't been any posts about Highlands running up the score. IMHO, this is the way it should be and I take this opportunity to commend Dale.

How often does Highlands do this? I know they are working on things that they may need to use in a close game but seems they could work on that during practice not when they are already up 28-0.

No disrespect to Highlands or their coaching staff, just wondering how often this has happened and how the other teams react?

I don't have the answer to that question and I do understand working on things under game conditions but I don't understand calling a time out with 11 sec. left in the 1st. half when your up by 40 pts. I know the JV was in the game but i just don't think you do that. Things like that create a lot of hard feelings

You can't simulate game conditions in practice. That is why they try things in a game. Relax, if they wanted to it could of been a 100 to nothing..HHS always plays their JV so they don't run up the score in the second half. I get tired of people whinning and crying about stuff like this.:irked:
