What's wrong with getting "next years varsity" more reps against some one else's varsity.

I want to commend the GC coaches. Often, teams that play HHS are WAAAY out of the game before trying the "trick" stuff. Starting the game with the HB pass is the type of risk taking that will keep them in games they shouldn't be in and win games when their the underdog. It just was fortunate for HHS that the rush got to the passer as he was throwing...and a lame duck was the result. THought the GC passing game looked pretty good. Keep up the hard work boys!

You can't simulate game conditions in practice. That is why they try things in a game. Relax, if they wanted to it could of been a 100 to nothing..HHS always plays their JV so they don't run up the score in the second half. I get tired of people whinning and crying about stuff like this.:irked:

Sorry,I shouldn't of went off on you like that. I just get tired of alot of people on this board that think HHS is always running up the score. This is simply not true or factual in anyway. HHS could score a 100 points on alot of teams that they play if they wanted to.

I agree with you totally... Highlands is a top notch football program and they could score 100 points on ALOT of teams if they wanted to. Don't worry about earlier no harm was done, I understand why it would get frustrating if a lot of people accused Highlands of running it up. :thumb:

Highlands first kickoff looked like they went offsides on purpose to make Grant think they were going to kick it deep and then came back with the onside. I've seen people go offsides on a kickoff but to be offsides by 5 yards. They should have knew something was up.

I don't have the answer to that question and I do understand working on things under game conditions but I don't understand calling a time out with 11 sec. left in the 1st. half when your up by 40 pts. I know the JV was in the game but i just don't think you do that. Things like that create a lot of hard feelings

BGFB...I noticed that not one coach was "upset" at the offsides on the kickoff....that's when I KNEW the onsides was coming!! Mistakes like that don't go "uncorrected" at HHS!

It may very well have created hard feelings. But Dale isn't getting paid to make sure the other head coaches like him to put it bluntly. He's getting paid to try and fulfill the dreams these players have dreamt since they were first able to have dreams: win state championships. And by making the minutes the jv players play as meaningful as possible, he not only increases the chances of winning a championship this year (in the event a starter goes down), he increases the chances of winning a title next year when a lot of the jv players become full time starters. Dale's heavy emphasis on Frosh and JV football is one of the reasons why, while we don't win state every year, we very, very rarely field a poor team. In addition, Dale feels he owes it to the players, who put as much time and work into football as any other program, and probably more than 95% of the programs, in the state to make them as good as possible. If that means calling a time out in the first half, so be it.

 

It is interesting to observe how some are quick to criticize Dale for calling the time out against Grant, yet those same folks failed to compliment him when he had the JV take a knee with about 2 minutes left in the Madison Central game when we were within the Madison Central 10 yd line.

 

And candidly, while everyone wants to be "loved", if the way Dale coaches and Highlands plays comes across as arrogant, uncaring, brash, cocky, or whatever, we'll deal with it just fine, thank you. Dale is not trying to embarrass anyone. He's simply doing what he thinks will benefit the team this year and the program in the years to follow.

 

And to the comment about us getting beat by the Rock the last time we did, you didn't hear a single person from Highlands complaining about the Rock running up the score. You had a better team than we did that year and we simply failed to stop your offense. Not your problem that you scored so many points and we didn't. It was our problem. Hope to have a rematch with the Rock soon. We may have a little score to settle:ylsuper:.

I'll never forget what Dale said after being asked about how he felt when Boyle ran a fake punt up 30 (or whatever) in the state finals. Simply put, "It's our job to be able to stop it and we didn't." Others will whine about out it while the great one's will prepare his team to not allow it.
