Thought would be closer than predicted, but thought the Camels would pull it out. Congrats to Dixie for a big win on the road. Was that last two points a safety or some kind of announcer score??

Both teams had safeties. With 10 seconds left Dixie took a safety on 4th down with Dixie leading 18-15. Dixie kicked off to Campbell with 5 seconds left and the game ended with the Campbell Co returner was tackled.

Camels had 4th and 1 to go for a TD at the end of the game trailing by 3 and elected to go for the win. QB ran a play from the shotgun around the end and got tackled short of the goal. Not sure I would have ran that particular play with inches to go but gutsy move to go for the win. I may have gone for the tie since the Camels had all the momentum at the end. Camels did not play their best game of the year on offense but give Dixie credit for hanging on for the win.

Wow what a game, to bad my camels couldnt pull it out. I have loved very call the coachs have made since they have been there, but that 4 an goal on the 1 in shotgun was not a good one. I would have gone under center and ran some power O.

Let me be the first to say, I had almost no issues with the announcer whatsoever. He gets the fans into the game, and he even complemented Dixie players after a nice play. He made one announcement that I thought he could do without, but otherwise, I wouldn't mind having him at my home field. :thumb:

 

As for the game, it was a good one. Dixie's defense caused Campbell fits most of the night. After the first scoring drive by Campbell, Dixie double covered Griffin, and shut down the Campbell passing attack and running attack. I absolutlely loved it when they bumped him at the line. It's the first time I think I've ever seen Dixie play that aggressive on D. However, in the 4th quarter they got away from the double coverage, and Campbell took advantage. They drove down the field and scored. They then drove down again, but a Dixie guy was able to trip up the qb about a foot short of the goal-line on 4th down. Dixie was able to get a 1st down to run the clock down. With 10 seconds left, Mosier took the snap on 4th down and ran around in the endzone to take the safety. If the head ref didn't force him out of bounds, it's possible he could've ran the clock out. Instead, they kicked and made the tackle.

 

Dixie's offense is still struggling, but the Camels have a good D. Bricking is still making his throws too late allowing the defender to get over in coverage. He needs to release the ball before or during the receivers cut and not after. It gives the defender too long to adjust. Do NOT throw into double coverage when Griffin is over there. The kid has great hands as he picked off 2 passes. He also is good at reading the qb's eyes.

Have you been coaching long to question the coach. I think he made the call and you must support it. If we had made the goal he would have been a hero. Do you know what happened in the last quarter that brought the Dixie coach over to the Camel side. It looked like he was yelling at Dixie students. I think we lost some momentum then.

All I said was that I think I may have gone for the tie but that was just an armchair quarterback comment. That is why I am not a coach and why they spent the time and energy to make those decisions for our teams. I respect the coaching staff and support them 100%. I know we are all upset with the loss but let's not get on each other. It was just my thoughts at the time, I am glad I did not have to make that call. As I said gutsy call and you are right probably the right one but maybe I would not have been able to make that decision. I still think that going from the shotgun was questionable looking at the placement of the ball on the one yd line, going by percentages only. But if you catch them looking for QB sneak or off tackle, that play works. Great D by Dixie. It just wasn't the Camels night, too many mistakes and turnovers but I still bleed Purple and I do believe! The big games are still ahead! Re-group and work hard boys and great job to Troy and his staff:thumb:

 

What happened was the Dixie fans threw a bottle at the Camel players and coaches and it landed on the field. I really was disappointed in that behavior and you are 100% correct it did effect your momentum.

Some pop bottles were thrown on the field by the Dixie student section, nearly hitting some of the Camel players and coaches. Dixie's coach came over and told them it was classless and they should be thrown out of the game if they found out who did it. I thought it was a good gesture by the Dixie coach. It was one heck of a high school football game, intense all the way.
