He plays QB for Holmes but his passing ability is not why his coach plays him there. It's a case of putting the ball in the hands of your best athlete. I agree with westsider that he'll probably play WR or DB. I am somewhat surprised at the offer because he hasn't played much football and he's a bit raw. That said, the athletic ability is obviously there.

Dixie should be somewhere in the top 10. Maybe not top 5, but definitely top 10.

Since the Boone Co school district is planning to build another HS with the probable result that Ryle would drop to 3A, maybe we should be discussing if Warner/Yeagle will be able to get it done in 3A.

Lucas is a very good coach. I find it somewhat surprising that he is being immediately dismissed as a possibility. I am not saying that Beechwood should hire Lucas since I don't know the list of candidates, However, some real heavyweights would have to apply, and maybe some have, before I would dismiss Lucas so quickly.

In this order: Trinity NCC Russell LexCath The only team that would be a real surprise to me if they repeated would be LexCath. IMHO, LexCath will find it harder to replace Burke then the other teams will find replacing their key players. Also, LexCath's road to the state finals always includes CovCath and Highlands, and then probably either Rockcastle or Bell Co. They were able to run the gaunlet this year but two years in a row is asking a lot.

The QB has to take his eye off the defense to catch the snap but he doesn't have to keep his eyes on the ball to find the laces. He should be able to do that blindfolded.

How many passing yards do you have to have before you're a considered a "passing team"? Preston threw for over 2000 yards last year. I'm not sure about Bricking's numbers this year but I would guess he was in the 1000-1500 yards area even though he didn't start the first two games.

If you just looked at stats you would never know it but IMHO Lance Durbin is the best WR I have seen this year.

Wildcat, What game were you watching? Trinity took the lead in the 2nd quarter and never relinquished it. Trinity led by 3 at the half. Trinity led by 16 after 3 quarters. Trinity won by 24.

How often do you see a team in the final 8 that has averaged allowing almost 29 ppg?

So does the penalty get marked from the spot of the foul or from the end of the play?

On the illegal chop block play, the ref's did call it on Metzger for going low and taking out the lead blocker. The Dixie coaches were upset on the play because they felt that Boone Co should have had the option of taking the penalty from the spot of the foul or the result of the play. Instead the refs added the penalty to the end of the play which gave Boone an additional 10-15 yards. Perhaps a ref could explain what constitutes and illegal block by the defense and whether the penalty can be added onto the result of the play.

Boone Co is a #3 seed. Trinity is next form them.

Last year when Dixie played Boone in the playoffs, I felt that the stadium easily could have held 200-300 more people than they let in.

Those numbers might reflect how much influence the school has in convincing the fire marshall to look the other way! :eek:

I picked up my tickets at Dixie this morning. The lady at the desk did say that they had a very good chance of selling out. I would advise anyone who is planning on going to pick up tickets at Dixie or Boone Co either today or tomorrow morning. I just walked into main entrance at Dixie and into the office on the left and bought them.
