theguru Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I understand Beechwood and Dixie just signed a two year contract to play each other. As a Beechwood fan I do have some interest in the game but I am concerned with the timing. Dixie should be very good the next two years and Beechwood has several unknowns at this point. Everyone?

Who did both schools drop from the schedule (since most schools have identical schedules next year)??? Beechies will be fine agianst Dixie and they should be good games.
theguru Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 I think Lloyd dropped Dixie after a million years of playing. I haven't looked at the schedules from last year but you should be able to figure it out from there.
Z5 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Would have been nice to hire a coach first.......or maybe there mind is already made up. Typical. I mean for real, they can't wait to hire a coach and get his input? Disrespectful in my mind, but typical of them. Am I way off base here? Honest. Z5

I don't want to assume Beechwood replaced Alter with Dixie just because of the dates.

Beechwood is still playing Alter (away) Also--for anyone who questions this decision-- The AD has made the schedule for the past 4 seasons. Take that however you want.

quickslick Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Doesn't the AD usually do that? With input from the coach of course, but isn't that part of their job? It depends on the school. I know many coaches who set their schedule completely--without any input from the AD.
Sandman32 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I'm glad to hear that they had a change of heart about playing us. I wonder what happened to bring this one about? I had heard that there was some bad blood that went back a bunch of years. I guess what ever it was time healed it. Should be great for both teams!
Sandman32 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 It depends on the school. I know many coaches who set their schedule completely--without any input from the AD. My point is that it is not unusual. Wasn't it four years ago Mr. Yeagle's issues began at Beechwood? So previous to that season, he made his own schedule? Interesting.

So previous to that season, he made his own schedule? Interesting. Actually, the AD usually made the schedule the 3 years before that also--WITH INPUT from the head coach. And, not only was input taken from the head coach--but from the assistants as well. There is a good example from this past season that represents 99-01. The head coach wanted to play a power running team that would be similar to Danville or Mayfield. From there--the AD picked up Alter. The correlation that you are making makes sense--but it was never any more formalized than that (this year is the only example that I can remember in the past 8 years anyway). A lot of times--we had to take what we could get--a lot of teams didn't want to play a 1A school that could consistently beat them--even if it was Beechwood. Also--lets clear something else up--there is nothing in the past 3 years that would have prevented Coach Y from setting up the schedule if that was what he wanted to do. He had no "problem" which would have prevented him from doing such a thing. The only year that could honestly be said is 2002 when he took the year off. "Interesting" How? It kills me how people try to make little statements like that--that try to infer that there is something going on there. If you understood Coach Y--you would know that, with a very few exceptions, he could have cared less who we were playing. There was no foe too big or to small. Everyone was always taken seriously. But--you need to realize--it didn't really matter to him. Not even a little bit.
Z5 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 My point is it would be a professional courtesy to wait until a coach was hired to see what his feelings are.Not who has been responsible for the scheduling in the past. Educators to not think like the rest of the world....or most educators anyway. sheltered in there own world.

Maybe the Tiger brass know who their new coach is.

It would be nice to see who their new head coach is. I'm assuming as you are as well that since they are playing Dixie this is probably Burnetts job.
