Z - You MAY be overreacting. I'm pretty sure that CCH finalized some Cincy games before Coach R was hired. I'd also say that if you expect to be the head coach at the Wood, you're probably fine with "bring 'em on".

BTW, to me this is great for Beechwood. They're too good to play the soft pre-conference schedule they've been playing over the last few years. Alter, CCH, Dixie is very strong for an A school.

Would you rather that they wait and play little sisters of the poor? I doubt that you would like that. And I would guarantee that you would be on here the 2nd week of season talking about how Beechwood won't schedule any good teams since Coach Y left.

 

This is out of necessity. Pick good games now that have a benefit to the program--REGARDLESS of who the new coach is. Or wait and not have any good options. You must not have read my previous post. It doesn't matter who the head coach is going to be--the AD is going to have a say in the schedule. And at a school like Beechwood with Title 9 issues--IT IS ALMOST A REQUIREMENT. Also--look around at some of the others schools before you drop kick your own school--there AD's do the scheduling. Your conspriacy theories are unfounded and based on your own speculation about a situation that you have no involvement in.

 

Also--for any of you think think that Beechwood has already made up their mind--let me be the first to tell you: YOU ARE DEAD WRONG. Matter of fact, these types of statements are more misinformed than you could ever begin to imagine.

 

I didn't want to comment on this in any way--but there are a couple people who are not making any attempt to keep this in the proper prospective (most are--which is refreshing). In the past, I have been accused of being defensive, I am sure that I will hear it again. But keep in mind, things are not always as they appear. And even if it is Burnett or Rash--they were the 2 guys that ran the team in 2002--and took a miserable situation and were close to pulling off a state championship win against one of the better 1a teams that I can remember seeing.

 

Just be patient and keep an open mind. Nothing in this situation is definite.

It would be nice to see who their new head coach is. I'm assuming as you are as well that since they are playing Dixie this is probably Burnetts job.

Here is the situation (and the biggest reason why Beechwood is playing Dixie)

 

1. Play Hopkinsville and travel 6 hours (and pay for the travel and everything else that goes alone with it--remember my scheduling comments???)

 

Or

 

2. Play a neighborhood rival that guarantees a good gate and a great game

 

 

Again--if you know Coach B--you know that he would not want to face the school where he USED to be the head coach.

Everything that you are saying makes sense in most situations.

 

But remember--this isn't most situations--this is Beechwood--and things don't always end up the way people think.

You know the adminitstration at Beechwood knows nothing about sports, nor cares about sports either.(Bob Burnett excluded). That is why Bob Burnett will be the next head coach if he wants it. It is a natural fit and it is easy; they keep the same staff in tact and move forward. And Burnett will do a good job just like he did the one year he coached before.

How long does it take to hire the guy in the building? They don't understand the urgency behind getting a coach in place and how it will help maintain the status of the program. If they take 2 months and then hire Bob Burnett, how silly will that look?

 

They should do the work, make the decisions, and hire a coach within the month. It has already been over a month since Yeagle left. That way the program can move forward.

Still don't know who is off the Beechwood schedule other than it is not Alter.

 

Plus side bar to Lloyd. Having ended their series with NCC and now Dixie who will replace Dixie on the Lloyd schedule? I assume Lloyd will still play Beechwood each year.

I agree with you completely. However, there are numerous applicants--and I get the "impression" that they are going to give all of the solid candidates a solid chance to make their case (which is what a lot of people are convinced that would not happen). Like I said before--this is not the slam-dunk guarantee that people think.

 

But again--I am in 100% agreement with your statement, Wildcat. It is the time of year where things need to roll forward.
