Who's the favorite to win the All "A"?
Obie1 replied to EC12's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Yes I will be there, I have a horse in the race.(#34) As far as anyone else posting from the NCC family, I have not figured them out yet. -
Who's the favorite to win the All "A"?

I don't think NCC will be underestimating anybody. They are in the same boat as Danville. Started off the year slow, injured players, football, etc. They seem to be hitting on all cylinders recently. It sounds like it will be a good game. -
I would like to see NCC / Newport final.

Newport @ Campbell County 1/27 "canceled"
Obie1 replied to cchs_camel_1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I am a big Patrick Nerl fan, but I think Newport gives them all they want. Newport has been playing well lately. I see this game being close. 2-4 points either way. -
Yes he was back. However, he did not play at all in the 1st quarter and did not start the 2nd half. He made the difference for NCC getting out of a 20 point hole in the 1st match up. (only to lose to a buzzer beater.) He is very good at feeding the ball down low. Normally plays with a lot of heart. I do think he has recovered from the broken elbow, had a nice tournament.

I am with you baseball guy. I think NCC has what it takes to win this. They have just come together as of late. ( Early season injuries and a long football season.) I am glad to see them representing the 9th, they have more weapons to score with. ( M. Giesler, J. Geisler, Pangallo, or Conner.) You never know who is going to lead the scoring. From the post, it sounds like Elliott has already won. I hope the Breds get the chance to match up with them. -
Very good game. Newport tried to make a run late, but NCC was not about to let this one slip away. Great to see NCC clicking. Good Luck with the rest of the tournament.

New Cath @ Newport in the All "A" finals
Obie1 replied to AirYardGo's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
NCC had to fight out of a 14 point hole the last time. I don't think they get in that situation tonight, and come away with a victory. NCC by 6 -
Very good game, close all the way through. NCC should have put this away in regulation. Their big guys played very well. Ollberding and the 2 Geisler boys came to play tonight. Should be a good game in the final.

NCC won in overtime something like 65 to 57.

Devils in a close one. -
NKY fans: Can Holmes run the table?
Obie1 replied to Eta Rho's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I predict a Holmes loss on Febuary 13th. Things have a way of repeating themselves. They have lost to this team 4 out of the last 5. -
NewCath vs. St. Henry All A 1/23/09
Obie1 replied to Miller's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I have to believe that Faust is worth about a dozen points just sitting on the bench. However, I like NCC to get done. This is Brannen's 3rd time facing Faust, you know what they say about the 3rd time. (I hope its a charm) -
Jtown, it looks like the "bad teams" as you put it, are following through. Newport beat Beechwood, Dixie beat Scott. NCC will work the bugs out. I see them winning the ALL-A.
-
So lets just award the trophy Monday night and save everybody else the hassle. Just Kidding. I think this is wide open, St.Henry, HC, Beechwood, or NCC.

Dixie Heights 53 Newport Central Catholic 43
Obie1 replied to nkyfuture's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Dixie's best player last night was number 20. He kept the game close through 3 quarters. I think the rim doubled in size come the 4th quarter, because everything Dixie shot, went in. Oh, and number 00 had a really good game, I belive he was the 7th grader. -
I still like NCC to win this. They are much better than their record would indicate. Brannen will have them back on track come All-A.

Highlands / Boone County (01/12)

I have seen both teams play on several occasions. I would be suprised to see HHS come away victorious. -
Brossart 35 Covington Holy Cross 22
Obie1 replied to striker's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Hammertime, I left off the quote from Mustang on what it made all the Teams that Holy Cross has defeated. The only thing I ever wish for is a good game. Great bunch of boys on Brossarts Team. I have personally coached 4 of them. This is going to be an exciting game, like I said "can't wait.":jump: -
Brossart 35 Covington Holy Cross 22
Obie1 replied to striker's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Brossart will have their chance on Feb. 7 to hold NCC to 22 points. Don't be fooled by Holy Cross beating NCC. Missing their starting center and had one individual play the whole 2nd half with a fractured elbow. Can't wait for the game. -
Madisonville 51 Newport Central Catholic 46
Obie1 replied to Qryche11's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
He cracked the radial head. This is the ball on the end of the radius (for-arm). Hopefully he will be back in action soon. I also think NCC would have beat Lex-cath and Madisonville if they would have had him in the rotation. -
Newport Central Catholic 63 Highlands 57
Obie1 replied to 98NCCalum's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
NCC beat Highlands 2 years ago in the District. NCC up by 3 with no time left, Highlands goes for the lay up instead of shooting a 3. They lost by 1 instead of 3. -

I wish they could have the Boone game back. They were missing J. Geisler and J. Ollberding. It would have been a much closer game. -

Yes, 20 is Jake Geisler. (sophmore) This is his 1st game back from football.
