  1. I just heard in the local radio that they are going to interview the last two candidates tonight's and that a decision could be be made anytime after the interviews tonight. It was said they are down to 8 candidates.
  2. They had one more interview today. Hopefully we'll know something soon. Maybe tomorrow or Thursday.
  3. I have heard that an announcement could be made anytime any day now.
  4. Thanks. I couldn't remember if he was the HC for the Tigers or if he was an assistant (OC maybe).
  5. So is Hopkinsville looking for a new coach or was he an assistant?
  6. The AD has said she wants a decision to be made by the 18th. I know that they started interviews Wednesday. I don't know how many they are interviewing but if they want a decision by the 18th I wouldn't think that many. Could be wrong but I think a decision could be made any day now. Does anybody think since its taking so long it hurts Coach Boston's chances? A friend of mine and I were talking and he thinks that if they wanted to name a Coach who is already on the staff HC, it wouldn't take the committee so long to announce. I disagreed but the more I think about it, it kind of makes sense.
  7. This was by far the best state tournament i have been too. Been going since 1994.
  8. Should be a really interesting game between Henderson and Anderson next thursday. Good luck.
  9. I actually had Coach for Personal Finance and i believe he taught another class, maybe psychology, but you are right, most of the time he was the in house/study hall supervisor.
  10. I've heard Henderson is one of the top paying jobs in the State.
  11. The younger fella in the picture is Coach Griffith
  12. I have talked to several people and they all have confirmed that Coach Smith has indeed applied for the Henderson County job.
  13. Im not trying to take anything away from Coach Niederman but Coach Griffith is an excellent coach. Sounds like both would be great hires for the Rebels.
  14. I would like to see this thread as somewhat serious. I have seen Coach Smith threads on here and they start out serious and then kind of turn into a joke fest. If Coach Smith has indeed applied its going to be hard to find another coach who has a resume like him and should be a favorite for the job. I think this job can be a really good job. Of course you have to deal with Trinity and Saint Xavier but I there are some years Henderson County could play with those schools. Maybe not beat them but give them a game.
  15. Without starting anymore rumors, this hiring process is getting really interesting. Some big names have been mentioned. I have mentioned some names and having second thoughts about mentioning those names because I have no sources just hear say. On a serious note, whatever happened to Jay Cobb, the coach who originally took the job after Coach Duffy left? He took the job and then left a few days later. Did he go back to Somerset? I looked up the Briar Jumpers past season and it names Coach Charles Lucas has head coach. Just wondering if Coach Cobb is still coaching or is doing something else now days.
  16. Did he for sure apply for the job. I know that is has been rumored but is it for certain?
  17. Im in Lexingotn to watch it and i wanted to go back and watch the Madison Central game and the reason for all the instant replays is Ihigh uses the camera's from Rupp. I can't stand it either. I think I'd rather watch listen to it on the radio if i wasn't up here
  18. While Josh is a personnel favorite of mine I have to agree. Lovelace has taken Christian County to two state championships. Lovelace can coach.
  19. I agree, but Josh has put in his do's and to some people that means something. Somebody in the next few weeks, is going to have to make a tough decision.
  20. Henderson County has to be the favorite in the 2nd region. Henderson returns a lot of talent from the State runner up team.
  21. After I started making this and realized that it would be harder than I thought. In no particular weight or order, I based the rankings on: - Quality of the game (i.e., 2004 Warren Central vs. Covington Catholic Semi), - Excitement & atmosphere at the game (i.e., 1998 Lexington Catholic vs. Scott County Semi), - Anticipation & build-up (i.e., 1999 Scott County vs. Madison Central Quarter), - Star power in the games (i.e., 2003 Ballard vs. Rose Hill Quarter), - Finish to the game (i.e., 2009 Holmes vs. Central Final) & - Stakes of the game (i.e., 2011 Christian County vs. Rowan County) Anyway, here goes: Top 3: Holmes vs. Central (2009 Finals) Lexington Catholic vs. Scott County (1998 Quarters) PRP vs. Ballard (2005 Quarters) Good Games, High Stakes: Mason County vs. Scott County (2004 Semis) Elizabethtown vs. Russellville (2000 Semis) Mason County vs. Trinity (2004 Quarters) Warren Central vs. Covington Catholic (2004 Semis) South Laurel vs. PRP (2005 Semis) Christian County vs. Rowan County (2011 Finals) Lafayette vs. Male (2001 Finals) Scott County vs. Ballard (2007 Finals) Lexington Catholic vs. PRP (1998 Quarters) Thrillers: PRP vs. Pendleton County (2005 First Round) Eastern vs. Warren Central (2011 First Round) George Rogers Clark vs. Christian County (2007 Quarters) Elliott County vs. Shelby Valley (2009 Quarters) Scott County vs. Paducah Tilghman (1999 Semis) ***Infamous game South Laurel vs. Male (2001 Quarters) Hopkinsville vs. Daviess County (2003 Quarters) Ballard vs. Henderson County (1999 Semis) Scott County vs. Highlands (1998 Quarters) Last Tier: Holmes vs. Elliott County (2009 Semis) South Laurel vs. Campbell County (2001 First Round) Ballard vs. Rose Hill (2003 Quarters) St. Henry vs. Mason County (2003 First Round) *Henderson County vs. Highlands (1999 First Round) Henderson County vs. Muhlenburg North (1999 Quarters) Paducah Tilghman vs. PRP (1999 Quarters) Warren Central vs. Henry Clay (2005 Semis) Male vs. Warren Central (2002 Quarters) Fairdale vs. Madisonville North-Hopkins (2001 First Round) As a kid, really loved watching the Jared Lorenzen and Derek Smith teams from Fort Thomas Highlands play as well. Seeing Lorenzen grab the ball out of the net and stand flat-footed and throw a full court pass to a streaking Derek Smith was something else. Probably the most hyped match-up coming into the game that I can remember is the 1999 Quarters where Scott County and Madison Central seemed to be on a collision course. Paducah Tilghman and PRP also had a good game in that session. If I’m not mistaken, this is one of the most attended sessions in tournament history. I was at the Henderson/Highlands game in 99 and when Lorenzen threw the ball almost full court everybody in the Henderson student section thought it was going in. Great game. All three of Henderson's games were great that year. I especially remember the Muhlenberg North game, not only because it was a great game but also because during the game Ballard's team came walking through and we were all in awe of how big they were. We didn't give our guys a chance but we should have won that game as well and probably the state championship because Scott County was banged up. Overall having been to the state tournament every year since then, that was the best Sweet Sixteen I've been to.
  22. You would think Coach Smith would be a lock but Coach Boston has been coaching here for 6-7 years and played here under coach Tom Duffy. Being a hometown product, it wouldn't surprise me if Coach Boston was chosen over Coach Smith if he indeed apply. The AD has been saying she wants a coach by March 18th. Should be an interesting couple weeks here in Henderson.
  23. A few names were mentioned this morning on the local radio. The BIG one was Chuck Smith. Also mentioned was Steve Lovelace from Christian County, Cory Brunson who is the Offensive coordinator at Evansville Reitz which is a big time program in Indiana, Billy Martin from North Oldham and of course Josh Boston the current Defensive coordinator. A couple others were named but they are slipping my mind right now. If Coach Smith did apply.... WOW.
  24. 1 Madison Central 1 Holmes 1 Ohio County 1 Hopkinsville 1 Warren Central 1 John Hardin 1 Ballard 1 Clay County 2 Madison Central 2 Hopkinsville 2 John Hardin 2 Ballard 3 Madison Central 3 John Hardin 5 Madison Central TB 134
