  1. Brossart will be representing the 10th Region and Villa the 9th Region in the All "A" State Volleyball Tournament.
  2. NCC for the second week, continues to shoot themselves in the foot. Personal fouls...again (late hit, roughing the kicker, offensive facemask!!!). NewCath had the ball on the 5 yd line, first and goal, the shotgun sailed over the QB's head.....and then it was 2nd and goal from the 29. The mistakes have to stop soon. By the way SK is a very good football team!
  3. Well, Jadan Jillian got her share of swings. The other middle got a lot too, but, tipped (I my opinion too much) over the block. Neither team had a steller passing game. Without the pass, not much offense can be generated. Unforced errors were the name of the game last night. If NCC cuts those in half, they win by a bigger margin. HC won the hustle points.
  4. Hats off to HC, they played with a lot of heart last night. NCC still has major work to do. It gets even harder for the Breds next Monday. They play Roger Bacon and Cincinnati Mercy.
  5. That is shocking, especially for how badly NCC beat Lloyd.(25-9, 25-6)
  6. It will be a tough one for the Breds. SK by 17. That hurts to say that, but, just being honest.
  7. I know Scott and NCC lost in the quarter finals of the gold bracket.
  8. NCC won the Campbell County JV Tournament this past Saturday. The Breds beat Beechwood in the finals. I was surprised to see how good the quality of play was. The teams that participated were: Simon Kenton, Villa Madonna, Bishop Brossart, Dixie, Campbell County, Beechwood, and Newport Central Catholic. There are some future stars on these teams Congrats to NCC Coach Alicia Heller on her teams championship! :thumb:
  9. I asked Jack's dad about his son's height, he said he is 6' 11"+. He was 6'9" last year as a soph. Jack should consider wearing a helmet around school because he needs to duck going thru the doors and now with the new drop ceilings at NCC, he nearly hits his head on them as well.
  10. "#78 for NCC was huge. He was a good head taller than anyone on the field. However, for a kid his size, he got pushed around a lot by smaller guys. I thought a guy his size would just dominate the interior of the line. As for the injured player for NCC, I hope the young man is OK." #78 is Jack Gruenschlaeger. He is a legit 7 footer. He has had a couple of ankle suguries and is still trying to get back to 100% Kyle Talon has a sprained knee. The timetable for his return is up in the air. These are the type of injuries that NCC can't afford to have this year with their small numbers.
  11. Could have been worse if the Dixie recievers didn't have 4 dropped passes. Also NCC had 4 personal fouls at crucial times and a shotgun snap that left the 20 yards deeper than they started. Dixie has a nice QB!
  12. Only 699 more wins to go to catch Jenny Mertle!:thumb:
  13. NCC freshmen look very good! I believe there are 22 on the team. QB Josh Cain will be a player to watch in the future. Their strength is speed. The running backs hit the line very fast and can get around the corner just as fast. The coaching staff is very high on these youngsters. Varsity scrimmage Holmes tonight. Team conditioning is key for them because they have a lot of players playing both sides of the ball.
  14. I believe I heard last year that the organizers used the "basketball regions" not the "volleyball regions". It is also on the same weekend as Louisville Invitational Volleyball Tournament, so teams like St Henry, NCC, Presentation, Covington Holy Cross, and Bishop Brossart will most likely not be at the All "A". Makes no sense to me why they would have it then and not use the vball regions.
  15. It was 2007 LIVT (Jen Wolfe's first season) and 2006 Fall Classic (Yoon Ha's only season).
  16. NDA's JV looked very good. I don't know the class breakdown, but, their future looks very bright. NCC's JV is a very short team physically. Soph. Becky Von Handorf, frosh Jillian Hoover and Maria Froendhoff look very promising for the Breds. NCC's JV should go about .500 based on their schedule. My daughter did quite well against the tough competition. She doesn't back down at all. That is probably due to playing club ball for the past 4 years. Thanks for asking!
  17. NDA dominated the scrimmage against NCC last night. The young Breds just had trouble with positioning on the court defensively.(Very fixable) One of the preseason question marks for the Pandas was setting, but Brooke Jones did a great job last night. She seemed to run a good offense, putting the ball where the hitters needed it for the majority of the time. It looked like Coach Fleissner changed the lineup in the 3rd 20 minute session which confused the Breds, but they seemed to figure it out by the end of the scrimmage. Both teams will get better as the seasons rolls along.
  18. Yes, I'll be there. NCC will be working with different lineups I'm sure. Strictly looking at it as a learning scrimmage, not a measuring stick like the last few years. My daughter will be playing tonight. She a bit excited. Hopefully NDA will not do this too bad tonight :deadhorse:
  19. NCC lost to Eastern 21-12, 21-12. The Breds have a lot of hard work to do. Lou. Holy Cross beat Scott. Lou. Holy Cross and Dunbar in Gold finals.
  20. Wednesday Aug 5 at 6:00. It will be at NDA or St Pius.
  21. NCC, SK, Highlands, Brossart, Boone, Beechwood, Dixie?.(There may be more) I'm not sure of the progress of each team.
  22. NKYVC has a K-3rd volleyball program called "Sprinkles", here in N Ky. They use special balls for the kids. The net is at 6 feet. They just teach the fundamentals of passing, setting and serving. It's a great program!
  23. The reason NCC is in the Bluegrass Games is because the tournament doesn't count against the match or scrimmage limits set by the KHSAA. This is a great way to try different lineups and plays. It's a freebie!!!!!
  24. NCC lost 3 DI college players and a D3 player as well. They will have a tough time winning it all since they are a completely different team.
  25. If Coach Fleissner can develop a second setter to allow Taylor Snyder to hit, then watch out. Offensively, they have Elizabeth Gruenschlaeger and Maggie O'Day. Defensively, they will be fast. Trisha Taylor, Allison Corry, Sarah Suedkamp, and newcomer, Maria Froendhoff will share the DS and libero duties. Highlands will have an expirienced setter in Jenna Theisen. We will see if the Birds will respond positively to new head coach, Whitney Edwards' fire and passion she brings to the team. Campbell County has a great core from last years team. They will definately be lead by Natalie Penrod. Look for a dog fight in the 10th.
