  1. Was feeling sick during the first half. I should know more today, but, may not post for privacy reason.
  2. In the 10th region it seems like every team that brought balloons in the gym lost. Highlands, Harrison Co., and Brossart. Last night Campbell had one birthday balloon for Natalie Penrod. When the coaches saw it, they immediately told someone to get it out....but....it was to late, the balloon curse had already struck. Beware of the BALLOON :dancingpa
  3. According to KHSAA website, Scott beat Beechwood in the 3rd game 27-25. What an awesome match that must have been. Congrats to Beechwood on a great season.
  4. NCC beat Deming 25-10, 25-8. They will meet Brossart on Wednesday at 6:30.
  5. Highlands is one of those teams that has the ability to beat anyone in the 10th. Depends on which team shows up. If they play with the same intensity that CC has it could be a very good match. As for the quote "CC better not look past Highlands.", that's just a common sports phrase that a team needs to focus on the first game and not think about a game that is 2 nights away. No harm meant, I'm sure.
  6. Awesome job Nat!! Hopefully a college coach will see you are not only a great vball player but also a great young lady and give you a full ride.:thumb:
  7. Beechwoodfan, you have to be extremely proud of how well your team played against NDA! If you all play as well against Scott, you could pull the upset. Congrats to Robin, Kyra, Ellie and the whole team!:thumb:
  8. Scott got a great draw! Notre Dame and St Henry will battle it out just to make the finals. Only one of these teams goes to state. Check this out, Assumption, Sacred Heart, and Dupont Manual are all in Region 7. Only one of these teams go also. Mercy should win their region. That means only 3 of the top 6 teams in the state poll will go to state. I know that Henry Clay is ranked 6th and St Henry is 7th, but St Henry should be ranked higher than Clay. So thats why I said "3 of the top 6 teams". It's like this every year. The KHSAA should expand the tournament to 32 teams. I was talking to a high school coach in Louisville and he said that it is a possibility that Mercy could join the 7th Region in the near future.
  9. I picked this one from the beginning of the season. Leslie is not only a great player, but, a great kid as well. It is great to see a player that is playing a not so glamorous position win POY!:dancingpa
  10. I think its to soon to pick a COY. Why not wait to see how things shake out in the regional tournaments first. You also should consider the strength of schedule or if they had a complete turnaround from the previous year. In my opinion,(a biased one at that) Coach Vicki Fleissner of Newport Central Catholic, did a fantastic job in her first year with a very young and inexperienced team. They currently are 17-12 and are one of the favorites to win the 10th(along with Campbell Co.). Leah Ballinger of Campbell Co., would be a good choice too. All in all, congrats to Whitney Edwards on a job well done!:thumb:
  11. Thanks, I didn't have my glasses on when I read the brackets.:eyeonyou:
  12. Finals are in: Campbell Co. (Champs), Bishop Brossart (Runner-up) Harrison Co. (Champs), Deming (Runner-up) Clark Co. (Champs), Montgomery Co. (Runner-up) Newport Central Catholic (Champs), Highlands (Runner-up) 10th Region draw will be Saturday morning. I've heard that there will be 2 first round games on Monday and 2 first round games on Tuesday at Campbell Co. High School. Semi Finals on Wednesday, with the Championship scheduled for Thursday. Looking ahead to the State Tournament, the 10th Region Champion will take on the Champion from the 8th Region at 3:30 on Friday Oct. 30th at NKU's Regents Hall. Good luck to all the teams next week. Win or lose, be proud of your teams accomplishments. See you all next week!:dancingpa
  13. I would think that either Campbell Co. or Newport Central Catholic should be the favorites to win the 10th. They played eachother twice, each winning once. But, with the way the flu is hitting here in Northern Ky, you never know what can happen.:idunno:
  14. Here is the rest of the field for the 10th Region Tournament: Harrison Co. Deming Bishop Brossart Campbell Co. Highlands Newport Central Catholic
  15. It looks like the girls are really coming together now. Good luck in Chicago and the rest of the year.:thumb:
  16. NCC also lost to Louisville Holy Cross. St Henry lost to Magnificat and then beat Presentation.
  17. I'll be there! "Chicks and Chucks" is a great foundation started by Kathy Holloran, a breast cancer survivor. They provide wigs and other things to breast cancer patients who can't afford them otherwise. Hopefully, Kathy will be there tonight.
  18. My question is, how is Lou. Holy Cross going to play in the LIVT and the All"A" at the same time. They are scheduled to play in both tournaments on the same day and they are 70 miles apart from each other.
  19. I'm not taking anything away from Scott, but, Notre Dame has too much this year for Scott to handle.
  20. If I'm not mistaken, at one point during crunch time in the 3rd game, NCC had 5 sophmores and 1 freshman on the floor. Great match ladies! Well worth the price of admission!
  21. Well, Touchstone decided to finally sponsor it after years of asking. Last year, Steve Howard, Owensboro Catholic's coach, took the bull by the horns and had an All "A" tournament. He put it on a weekend so that all the school could participate. So yea, to bad NCC can't defend their title!
  22. This will be very interesting! Each coach has explayers on the other side of the net. They should know eachother quite well. The key to this match will be how the coaches handle the pressure and their teams. As for a prediction...I will take my stadium seat and sit it squarely on top of the fence.:idunno:
  23. Wednesday night at CCHS, a 10th region showdown between preseason favorite, Campbell Co. and a very young NCC team. Predictions are welcome! I believe that both teams are at full strength (no injuries), so it should be a fun match to watch.
  24. St Henry, Newport Central Catholic, Beechwood, and Holy Cross did not participate because they are in the Louisville Invitational Volleyball Tournament which is held the same weekend as the All "A" state. Last year it was held the weekend before Districts started. Hopefully the people incharge will change it back and also use the volleyball regions instead of the basketball regions. In my opinion, St Henry would have been the favorite this year with NCC second, to win it all. But, we'll never know.
