Holmes won the game at the free throw line. They hit most of them. I'd guess these two see each other again. Good battle. I thought the refs did a good job.

To me Sullivan is at his best as the clear underdog. I think he can get his kids to buy into the nobody believes in us game plan. I'll take Cooper in a close one where neither team really shows the other one the game plan they would use in March if they meet again.

It's so much easier to slow a game down than it is to speed a game up. My guess is Cooper can slow it down if they want to. I'm not sure Sullivan will show them how he plans to beat them in a couple months though.

So Booher gets credit in here (deservedly so) for net letting Ruthsatz beat them and forcing other guys to do it, but the Holy Cross fan base blasts coach Goetz for the exact same strategy last year? The HC fan base is funny.

That's because the visitors side is closest to the HC bench. He needs to be heard by the players and coach Goetz in his mind.

I admittedly really like Erik but I thought he did a hell of a job in that Cov Cath game last year. Are there really people that think he had a terrible game plan in that game? NCC was pretty decent last year right? Who won that All A game locally?

I believe Oliva sat our her soph year due to injury or she would have been 4 year starter. In all 3 of her years they made it to the championship game, losing 2 of them to pk's. This may not be totally acurate but in the last 2 state title runs I believe her and her NDA teammates only gave up 6 goals in the playoffs. That covers approx 16 games in districts, regionals and state. Congrats to NDA on a great year.

It will be interesting to see how they handle expectations. For years they've been the little guy that got up and played tough against better opponents that may possibly have overlooked them. They won't get that this year.

Didn't you ask about composite bats? The Xeno is probably the hottest bat going right now. The Demarini's are always a good bat. Pretty much if you are willing to pay $250 or $300 for a bat they will be pretty good. As far as a cold night use an old bat, any one you have laying around will work. Shouldn't be playing in a real meaningful game in cold weather.

If I can make it I will have a cooler!! Wasn't long ago Maddy was the only girl from KY on a Doom team. Its great to see more stepping up and playing a good schedule.

St Henry is good and I know they tied NDA but I would say NDA is still a big favorite to win the region. St Henry might not win their district with Dixie being one of the top teams also.

I would think the region is more wide open than in years past. Even though Ryle lost Smith I would still keep them up top until proven other wise. Ever time I doubt them they come back stronger.

Again that is great. I don't know where any one says it was a big deal. This is a softball message board where she has been talked about a great deal in the past and in local media. So if it is ok to talk about her when it is going good for her when something like this comes up I feel like it is ok to talk about as well. BTW I would bet anyone a cup of coffee that there is more to this story than she just wants to focus on her education.

That's great if that is the case, no one has said for sure. Do you know that she has remained in school? I will respect her decision as well, just don't know what it is. Did she quit bc playing softball and going to school was to hard. Did she quit to focus on her education. There are many reasons she might not be playing and I guess they are not saying for sure.

She wasn't with the team more than a couple weeks, I understand it can be hard to juggle at times but she played several sports that went very deep into playoffs at WV. I would think she would be a little better prepared than to last a couple of weeks. If this Jim Ray award is for a girl going on to play college softball I think she should return the scholarship money.

For my money I would rather watch a kick ball game any day over a team that tries to control the ball all game. Where do most goals come from? Seems to me corners, free kicks, balls being played through or over the top or the number one way I see is individual effort. Are the girls more skilled, sure but there is nothing better than watching a ball played over the top and the battle between forward and D-back and then if the forward wins the one on one with the goalie. Just bc you play direct or over the top deosn't mean you do not try to develop your players skills. To me the mind set of playing possession is kinda like the country club way and playing more direct is more the bar room brawl type, both are fine comes down to choose.
