Cincy Pitcher Commits to Longhorns
I would love to hear from kids or parents that played with her at Ryle to see how many college coaches attended her games. I can see the local schools. Not sure how it was done several years ago but most kids in her position now would be offered at least before her soph year. We have a girl going to Washington that was verbaled before she threw a pitch in HS. I am just trying to pass along info that I have learned over the last couple of years. I understand every sitiutiaton is different and what works for one kid might not work for all. I have been lucky enough to help several girls get D1 rides and I don't recall one conversation with a D1 coach that asked about there HS team. If this helps some one young so be it if not please ignore.

I am wrong so you are saying by her pitching at Ryle it helped her get to OU? That's very surprising to me. Where did you hear coaches don't have the time, funds or means to recruit during HS? They have all of the above expect they only have 50 contact days a year and maybe wouldn't want to waste them to see a HS game unless its a kid that they really want. (we are talking BCS type schools that would have been recruiting Allen) A perfect example would be Ginn from Walton. I think by anyones standards she had a wonderful career. She did not play at a very high level in the summer and now she has to walk on at a lower D1 school. If I am not mistaking I believe one of her teammates that did play at a higher level did get some athletic money to play at Bowling Green. Ginn had one of the best careers in Ky HS history but it did not help her when it came to college and that is with a family member as her coach. Coaches recruit in the summer bc they can go to one location and see 100's of kids that may or may not be the type of player they are looking for. If a D1 coach shows up at a HS game its bc they really want the kid they are there for.

One other thing, I am as certain as I can be with out having personal knowlede that nothing she did in HS helped her get her to OU. I am sure it came through travel ball.

Cincy Pitcher Commits to Longhorns
Freshman year she had 16 starts and appeared in 31 games with a 2.79 era and a 9-8 record. That's not bad for a freshman in the big 12. Coach Gasso probably doesn't swing and miss that bad on to many players. One thing for sure we will never know.

Cincy Pitcher Commits to Longhorns
She was a Murray State commit until they let their coach go. Once she decommited she was pretty much considered by the coaches I talked to as the best uncommitted 2013 pitcher left. I know she could have picked a lot of mid major type schools and went for free. Long story short is I don't no, could be 100% but I would be shocked. My guess is around 50 to 60% bc all schools give pitchers a little more. Our team played her a couple weeks ago and won 5-2, we didn't hit the ball real well off her and may have only had a 4 or 5 hits but she is way down on the list of pitchers we faced this summer. That being said we faced some of the best pitchers in the country also.

If you look at her stats she got quite a bit of playing time her freshman year before Ricketts came and did fairly well. Maybe not an all American but she did pitch pitch well at OU. The next 3 years her numbers were ok also just never pitched much and never against good teams. I never saw Allen pitch so it is hard to say. The things with softball and other like sports you never know how much money someone gets. I would think Allen got a full ride at OU which is very impressive. I have no clue what this other young lady got at Texas but my guess is not nearly a 100%. For me that was one of the harder chocies in looking for a college. Do you take less money to go to a bigger school and maybe not play as much or do take the money and have a chance to play right away.

Who will be the top teams in NKY girls soccer this year???
Your kidding right, name me a bad soccer player that scores goals. It is by far the most difficuit thing in the game to do. I agree good defense wins but if you can't score you can't win. Ask almost any coach if they would rather have a stud defensive player or a stud goal scorer and I am pretty sure they would pick the offensive player. The article says players to watch out for not the 15 best players in the area.

This young lady is no Kirsten Allen. Allen pitched at 40' while in HS so it is hard to compare but this young lady going to Texas is no where near where Allen was coming out of HS. Allen could have pitched at OU more if it wasn't for being stuck behind one of the very best pitchers and players in the country in Ricketts.

Congrats
Congrats to Farbeyonddriven and his daughter Hannah Dorsett (SP?) from Galintain Co for receiving her first and very strong D1 offer to play softball at the next level. Hard work pays off, keep it up Hannah!! Hannah will be a sophomore this coming year.

Beverly Bandits Nationals
I would say just about every BCS school was in attendence and most of mid majors on down. I saw as many east coast coaches as I did west coast. Between the 18, 16 and 14U divisons there were about 200 teams. The vast majority of those kids will be D1 players. In the 16 and 18u divisons most kids have already signed or verbaled but most coaches never stop recruiting there kids that verbal. For instance we had 3 teams there and all but 2 kids had either signed or verbaled. I didn't go the the 14U fields but I heard coaches were every where over there. That being said most schools had coaches at both or the coaches spent the time between both. There were probably more coaches in AL bc of all the D2 and D3 schools present along with the vast majority of D1 schools. I didn't see one D2 or 3 coach in Cali. There are only 42 (i think) D1 schools west of the Mississippi river. Coaches will go where ever the players are doesn't matter what coast. I loved playing in the ASA/USA nationals we did it for 4 years. Premier stated 3 years ago and changed the landscape of nationals bc most of the top teams go to Premier. Either way both are great tourneys, I am glad you guys got to play in front of coaches bc that is what it is all about.

Beverly Bandits Nationals
The Bandits finished tied for 13th at Premier Nationals. It was a little disappointing seeing we felt like we had a top 5 type team, but the girls still had a good week. The tourney had a blind draw which came back to hurt us seeing we would have been a 1 seed. We ended up getting the Corona Angels KK in the second round and they sent us to the loser bracket. We won several games and then got beat by CA lite who is a nice team but who is a team we feel like we should be more times than not, and we didn't beat them when it mattered. On a side note the Corona Angels got beat in the finals by Team Mizuno in the finals. We did beat Team Mizuno in the Demarini in Chicago a couple weeks ago. Madyson had a great week, she didn't get to hit as much as she would have liked but played lights out at SS the whole week. The Vegas part of the trip really sucked!!

Have seen her pitch, I believe she is very good. With that being said I would be shocked if she gets much pitching time at Texas. I have been wrong before so good luck to her.

Nationals
Good luck to all teams in Nationals this coming week. The Beverly Bandits will be Huntington Beach CA for the Premier Nationals. Should be a fun week, this is the best amateur tourny in the country. You want to be the best you have to play the best. My biggest fear for this coming week is getting there, we fly to Vegas today for a day before heading over to Cali!!

New Rule for High School
I tend to like the rule also any time you can take judgment away from an ump that is a good thing.

ASA State
If you have a real chance at winning states I would play in states. There will be 50 times more coaches at ASA USA nationals compared to that showcase.

St. Henry Coach
Run the program in the ground were the wrong words for sure. I would say the St Henry girls deserved better. Yes it is debatable but my take would be it had very little to do with her and more with the players. They have had some really nice players there the last 4 years.
