Homicide At NKY Business Under Investigation

Boone County authorities are investigating a homicide Tuesday at a local business.

Deputies were called to the ThermoFisher Scientific facility on Empire Drive just before 7:30 a.m. Investigators clustered around an area at the back of the building and went in and out of the facility.

Authorities found 42-year-old Michelle Mockbee (Whalen), of Fort Mitchell, dead in the office area of the building.

I cant recall if I remember her

Did she live on Superior?

She worked in HR and Was killed at the workplace. I wonder if she Does the hiring and firing. Could have been a disgruntled ex-employee.

Sad she leaves behind 2 young girls from what it looked like on her Facebook page.

The van they were looking into had the Beechwood paw on the window. I was wondering if it was hers and if she had young ones.

It almost has to be either be that, a current employee that is upset, or some type of "love interest." After that we move to random killing which is even scarier.

Anyone have anymore details?

They have been slow to come out. That's for sure.

Michelle had 2 young girls, both Beechwood students. The youngest is a classmate of my daughter and also a soccer teammate. Their home is on Virginia which is close to Blessed Sacrament. Her husband also works at the same facility. Yes, the details are slow to come out so let's not speculate as to the cause. The authorities have removed several items from the home which is standard protocol it seems nowadays. We knew Michelle well and she was one of the most delightful persons you could meet. My wife and I are still stunned and waiting for the right moment to tell our 7 year old who is friends of the family.

Thanks for the info bjaynes but remember speculating is one of the things we do here. And we are really stating the obvious vs. speculating. Work issue, love issue, or stranger. Terrible all the way around.

WOW, I used to live with her sister.

I believe someone has been arrested in this case.
