The Xplosion will travel to Zanesville, Oh this weekend to play in the 14th Annual Ohio Fastpitch Jamboree. With 6 games guaranteed, alot of ball for the young ladies to play. Friday's pool play games are at 3:00, 4:30, & 10:30. Will keep you updated.

Lost the 1st game 4-3 to VooDoo (Heath, Oh), got here as the game was in the final inning. Won the 2nd game 12-1 in 3 vs. Ohio Rage. Sydney Himes (Conner) solo homer, Haylee Smith (Ryle) rbi triple, & Dallis Knotts (Boone Co.) 3-run homer lead the way. Last game is scheduled for 11:30 tonight due to a one hour weather delay, however they are working on getting the game moved up if possible.

In the nightcap vs the PC Sting 96 (Circleville,Oh), it was the Cooper connection that propelled the Xplosion to a 6-0 victory. Jessica Koors hits a "bomb" to dead center (286 feet) that 2 hops the fence for a solo homer and Lauren Willett doubles in a pair.

 

Finish 2nd in pool and play at 2:00 Saturday vs. Columbus (Oh) Turbos. Had we won are pool we wouldn't have played until 5:00, but at least it's not an early morning start.

In the 1st bracket game today Jenna Johnson (Boone Co.) throws a gem and the Xplosion win 3-0 over Columbus (Oh) Turbos. In game two Haylee Smith (Ryle) keeps the Valley Force (Tuscarawas,Oh) at bay has the Xplosion win 4-1. Kelsea Satchwell (Gallatin Co.) with the big blow, a two-run triple.

The Xplosion play in the semi-finals of the winners bracket at 9:30 tonight.

 

Just a little tidbit........Jenna Johnson has been hit by a pitch 4 times so far this tourney to go along with 5 two weeks ago in South Carolina.

Have you ever been associated with a game that was enough to give you the "heart attack" or raise your blood pressure???? Well this game was one that goes into that category. To start, the game was supposed to start at 9:30, we get started at 10:10 because the lights went out on only OUR field. The Xplosion are playing the Muskie Chix (New Concord, Oh), they played this team to a tie in pool play a month ago in Columbus, Oh. The Xplosion get on the board first in the bottom of the 1st on a RBI groundout by Jessica Koors (Cooper). The Muskie Chix tie things up in the top of the 2nd on a solo "bomb" to the left-center gap. The score would stay that way through 6 full as time expires and we move on to the dreaded International Tie-Breaker.

 

The Muskie Chix's 7th starts with the leadoff hitter bunting, however she runs into the ball out of the box and is called out, the next batter strikes out but during the at bat the runner on 2nd moves up on a passed ball, the next batter walks. After the 1st pitch to the next batter the runner on 1st lightly jogs to 2nd looking for a throwdown. Haylee Smith (Ryle) fires back to Dallis Knotts (Boone Co.) who in turn fires to Lauren Willett (Cooper) at 2nd an catches the runner taking her time to 2nd for the 3rd out....TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! The bottom of 7 for the Xplosion has Taylor Burkart (NewCath) at 2nd. She moves to 3rd on a Carlee McCarthy groundout to 2nd. Dallis Knotts lays down a bunt and runs all the way to 2nd as they are paying attention to Burkart at 3rd. The next batter is Kelsea Satchwell (Gallatin Co.) who hits a "frozen rope" to rightfield, and both runners are unable to advance. The next batter is Sydney Himes (Conner) who grounds out to 3rd, and so we move on to the 8th.

 

The Muskie Chix's 8th starts off with a sac bunt and the runner advancing to 3rd and the next batter popping up to 1st. Then before the next batter reaches the plate the lights again go out. After a short delay both teams and fans take a long walk to a vacant field to resume the game, because the lights take a full 20 minutes to illuminate. With a full count on the next batter Knotts throws ball four in the dirt that Haylee Smith can't handle and the go ahead run scores. The next batter lines out to Satchwell at short, however it's 2-1 Muskie's. The bottom of the 8th for the Xplosion has Himes on 2nd and Jessica Koors up. The "hot" hitting Koors promply drives one to the left-center gap for the game tying double. Up next is Smith who pops out to 2nd, next Erika Stein (Boone Co.) lays down a bunt and reaches 1st without a throw. The same goes for Jenna Johnson (Boone Co.) and the bases are loaded with one out. Then a play that could have been "disaster". Lauren Willett hits a sinking liner to 2nd that just does hit the ground short of the 2nd basemans glove, everyone freezes, then the throw goes home to forceout Koors and the catcher throws down to 2nd, but Johnson just does beat the throw. Up steps Maddie Graham (Boone Co.) and she sends a line drive up the middle past the drawn in infield and the Xplosion WIN 3-2 in 8 and the game ending at 12:10 :isurrender: Feel sorry for the two teams that still had to play after us. :eek:

 

The Xplosion will play VooDoo (Heath, Oh) in the winner's bracket final at 3:30 Sunday. VooDoo is the team the Xplosion lost to in their 1st pool game 4-3. Unfortunatly will be checking out of hotel in the morning so I will not be able to post anything till I get home unless I can find a wi-fi spot Goodnight.

Awesome. Congrats on the championship. Thought the Smith girl played with the Doom. Where they off this weekend or done for the summer? Nice pick up though, she is a game changer.

Done for the summer. It was nice to have an extra pitcher/catcher. It gives Jessica Koors a well needed break behind the "dish" and especially since Jenna Johnson came down with another case of sports induced asthma and had to leave the tourney on Sunday.

Next time you she her, ask her what she said to almost get the big "heave hoe" in the winner's bracket final. Let's just say she was not happy with the home plate ump's call. However, in her defense, I will say I have never seen more umpires that DID NOT know the rules and as Erika said, "the strikezone is the size of an index card". :lol:
