Until a team from somewhere other than Boone County wins the Region Boone, Conner, & Ryle are at the top. However don't know what order I'd put them in. With the addition of Haley Smith, Notre Dame only improves their chances. The rest of the team, it's a crap shoot.

Will St. Henry even have enough to field a team? By the way, when will they name a coach? They do have Noelle Butts back and I would assume she will be handling the pitching duties.

Dixie is young, but has a nice group of players and a solid pitcher in Fr. Bailey Spencer.

SK, is now without Courtney Morgan on the mound, can their back-up compare? They do have one heck of a catcher, that carries a big stick in 8th grader Kennedy Baugh.

NewCath returns 6 starters (5 So. & 1 Jr.), but will have to find 2 solid outfielders to replace. With only 1 Sr. & 1 other Jr. returning, who both saw very limited action, the Breds might be a year away from a solid 9.

Brossart.........I'll let the BGH tell us about them.

Looking forward to the season to start!!!!!

I know Bracken County will have a new coach, but they return everyone from last year so I would move them up. I would have Conner, Boone, Ryle and Notre Dame as my top four. They each have solid pitching. I would have Bracken County at five followed by Dixie and St. Henry. They each have stronger pitching than the other teams mentioned. The next five would be Brossart, Simon Kenton, NewCath, Highlands and Cooper in no specific order. Cooper should have a solid team but not sure who their pitcher will be. Newport has a nice pitcher but needs to develop the team around her. They would be my sleeper.

Yep. :thumb:

While I am an avid Bracken County supporter, it's not being a homer when I say they should at least be ahead of Bishop Brossart. As you stated, they return everyone (sans Coach Persinger) from a team that twice easily handled the Lady Mustangs (12-0 & 8-5). Brossart may end up being better, but they'll have to prove it on the field of play. And they'll be given at least one opportunity to do just that.

How on God's green earth would you include Bracken County, but not Gallatin County, geographically speaking?

Sorry, I kinda stopped at Bracken. Gallatin would be ranked up there as well as Walton Verona.

Completely agree. Brossart is solid defensively and hitting, but not very strong in the pitching department.

Also, I agree that Gallatin Co and WV would be in the mix as well. WV lost a lot but has one of the best pitchers in NKY and will be one or two shy of a solid defensive team. Gallatin return a lot from last season and will have a very solid team.

I don't know a lot about Gallatin, but Walton-Verona has always had a very solid softball program.

Not sure if she is planning on playing softball but Karlee Schrieber transferred from NDA to St. Henry. She pitched for NDA for the first half of last season before leaving the team. She is a pretty good pitcher.

Don't think Bracken or Gallatin have ever been considered NKY by the local media. Not saying they shouldn't be. Grant and Williamstown have been considered NKY because of their district affiliation with SK and WV.

Brossart is solid all the way around in my opinion. Their pitcher wasn't as fast as some of the others, but had good placement. Us parents were going crazy, wondering why we weren't smashing the ball. For a freshman she changed her speeds and locations well and my daughter is very good friends with her. I don't think they lost a whole lot of players, so they should be solid. I think we will win our region. Look out Ryle:ylsuper:

The only thing I know is Dosset and Satchwell can play some ball!!:notworthy:

I would think the region is more wide open than in years past. Even though Ryle lost Smith I would still keep them up top until proven other wise. Ever time I doubt them they come back stronger.

I think Brossart is very solid defensively and hits the ball very well, and they did not lose much from last year. We will have to agree to disagree on their pitching.

You guys are talking about a young freshman, Shackelford, that won over 20 games. She worked hard over the summer and got some special assistance from Alicia Miller adding speed. I think you'll see a much improved team that returns 19 of 21 players back from a team that won 26 games, the 37th District Championship, the Whitley Co. Tournament Championship, finished Second in the NKAC and has some excellent young talent. :D
