I'd like to give a little credit to Villa. I see a lot of DIII games, so I have seen them play this year twice. They flat out busted their butts this game. They have absolutely no reason to be in a game with Holmes, but they made the most of it. Yes, Holmes won by 23, but if you were there, you know that first 20 or so minutes were very special to that team. Would they ever be able to do that again, No, probably not. But for a team to go out and play like that agianst the defending state champs, having what seemed like only their parents as their only cheering section, was pretty cool to watch. I think Holmes will be fine as the year progresses. They need a point guard, and a less big headed attitude. But, what can I say, if I was the defending champ, I would be big headed too. When they realize that the games are not won on paper and the past, they will be fine. BTW, the officiating in this game was very poor. I would just like to see consistancy. First half they let the kids play, second was called much tighter.

Both teams won sunday and will meet at 6:15 monday at Lloyd. Holmes beat Pendelton County in a pretty good game by around 10. Pittman did not play. Villa beat Lewis County by about 25. Villa obviously has a tough one on Monday. How bad will it be?

They are very very good. I don't think they can beat Highlands, but NCC is a real possibility. IMO that District is the strongest overall in the 9th.

They had the same turnover problem against beechwood. They are just not clicking yet. I wouldn't worry about them. Hopefully its a wake up call that they can't just walk out on the court and play. They have the individual talent, just not gelling as a team yet. It's really really early.

IMO it is between Dayton and Villa for THIS YEAR. Beechwood is filled with athletes, a great coach, and a tradition of winning, but I just don't think they have the overall talent and depth that they have had in the past. They deserve all the respect and praise for what they have done in the past, but I believe this is the year they come up a little short. Villa and Dayton played twice last year with Dayton winning by two and Villa winning by three. With niether teams graduating major contributers, I look to both of their matches this year to decide the DIII title. The one wild card I have come across is the new center that Villa has had transfer in from Cov Cath. He is only a sophomore, but he has size and talent. If you have ever seen a Villa game, it is usually all guards running around with Bryan doing most of the scoring and good shooters on the wings with no inside precence. This year they have that inside game to compliment Bryan and the other shooters. Dayton presents the physical game that most teams at this level can not match. They are talented, hard working, well coached, and despite what most people belive, I feel well disciplined. Whom ever can come together as a team and not be so inner focused on their "stars" will win this division.

No question Villa, Beechwood and Dayton are the top three. What about Calvary? Did they lose everyone?

Doesn't look good for the All A. I'm not positive, but I believe they have a hard couple of games, maybe NCC or Holy Cross. As far as the team in general, I think they are going to be very good. They did not lose anyone off of last years team, and brought back the big kid that left for Cov Cath for a year. The team has always missed the presence of a big man, and now they have one for a few years to come. Bryan is one of the leading scorers in KY, Schuh is a really good outside threat, and now they have a Big Man. They also have expereince in their other players seeing that no one graduated last year. I see them winning the DIII title. Just a prediction, I know it's early. Beechwood is Beechwood, and until someone proves other wise this year, they have to be respected, but they did lose a ton from last year. Dayton is the team to be most affraid of, they also bring back many players from last year. No, Villa is not going to be in the finals of the region or anything, but I think they will turn some serious heads this year. They are not the Villa of old. I know if I were coaching I wouldn't check them off as a easy victory.

I'm not sure what his name is, but the girls coach now used to be a boys assistant, is he next in line for the boys job? Will they go after another DIII coach? Does anyone even want that job anymore? It's someone new every year. What is the problem with that place?

Game is Wednesday at Villa at 7:45. St. Henry is the 1 seed. Villa is the 4 seed. Who takes this one? Last year St. Henry took the win in OT in regionals, this year St. Henry won by 8 at TMC. I think it really depends on which St. Henry team comes to play. They are a hard team to figure out if you just look at their scores over the past couple of weeks. Villa seems to be consistant, winning 7 out of their last 8 all against DIII schools. Bryan against Speed should be fun to watch. Is it wrong that I think St. Henry can win this by 30 or lose by 3??? Anyone else feel that way?

Who wins it tonight in Villa Hills? Lloyd earned the two seed after beating Dixie by three earlier in the season. Game is at 7:45 at Villa Madonna.

St. Henry is not going to look past them again. Last years game was great, and this year, St. Henry won by 8. Faust will make sure they bring their best. St. Henry is a hard team to figure out this season, maybe I'll start another thread for that game. I hope its another barn burner.

Newport has a good team. They have some nice wins this year. This has to be one of those situations where they were looking foward to the next game. Mistake when you are playing a team like dayton. Those kids play hard and just want some respect. They should be in the running next year for the DIII title. Good luck to the cats next game!

Final. Any surprise here? Villa moves on to play St. Henry on Wednesday. Congrats to them. Congrats to the seniors of Ludlow, you guys have worked hard over the years, good luck to you.
