gold sunrise Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 What does Villa Madonna need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
bigblue88 Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Put the ball in the basket. Play defense. This could be a pretty good year for Villa.
Reality Check Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Not sure what they have to surround Bryan. Schue is a good spot shooter. I don't know if they will have any size. With Blake Bryan there will they be the early favorite in DIII?

They have won 28 straight games, until they lose I'd say they have to be the favorite.

I am just curious if anyone thinks the Blue Lightning can make it interesting in DIII this year?
9thregionbb Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 DIII yes but will not finish higher than third in the 34th District behind St. Henry and Dixie this year.
Kentonman Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 The 6'6" sophmore from Cov Cath will play a lot in the middle this year.

I am just curious if anyone thinks the Blue Lightning can make it interesting in DIII this year? Villa was voted to finish first two years ago, and I believe they were top 4 last year. They will be a very tough foe because Bryan can go off for 40 on any given night. Beechwood was voted 3rd the past two seasons, thats why I say that they have to be the top.
stihl Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 If Bryan gets 40, the team gets a few more. If Bryan gets 20, the team gets a few more. IMO it's hard to enjoy watching. The surrounding cast just doesn't seem to improve during the year. I think they get worn down by it.
Clyde Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 The 6'6" sophmore from Cov Cath will play a lot in the middle this year. Sorry to see the kid leave but its probably the best move. He goes back and plays with the kids he gew up with. He'll be a good player in a few years.
bluegrass09 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 With someone this size Villa could be more a threat in their district. They'll play zone so if one of the teams has a bad shooting night then who knows what can happen.

They'll play zone so if one of the teams has a bad shooting night then who knows what can happen. Saw them play in a team camp at NKU over the summer and they ran a lot of zone. I would imagine they will do the same all season. It brought them some success in that camp but I don't think teams were ready for it.
wally Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 If Bryan is hitting his shots they are tough. But I also think they need somebody to step up with some rebounds and some inside baskets to take some of the load of Bryan
The Observer Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 They have one great player (I don't car ewhat anyone says, he's a top 10 player in the region) and a good player in Schue kid. I think they will will their fair share of DIII games, but as far as competing in the Alll "A", I don't see it.
