Glad to see St Pat get the win and make it to the region.

Not sure home court was that big for Henry Clay. They only won 2 home games all season and 14 on the road. Was a good crowd tonight for both teams, evenly balanced. Both had their bands and rowdy student sections. Was just a fun high school basketball game.

Henry Clay is playing well of late, and could be dangerous in the powerful 11th region. They lost 3-4 games this year on last second shots. They are a young team after P. Stewart. He is an excellent pure shooter. Also Senior Barnes has played well the last 6-8 games at center this year. Henry Clay has 4 sophmores that are really starting to play big as the season has progressed. Daniel Keisling, Brandon Nichols, Brandon Wilder, and Tray Stewart. Also the have a very promising freshman point guard named Kimball I think. Daniel Brown has done a very good job bringing this young group along. Congratulations to him and the entire team. This was a very big win for a rebuilding team in probably one of the toughest districts in the state. The KHSAA needs to do something about the Lexington/Scott county district and regions. They have now bunched up too many good teams. Look at the other Lexington district with Dunbar, LCA, Tates Creek and LexCath. Those 4, plus Henry Clay, Bryan Station and Scott County are 7 powerhouse teams in the "city". It's a shame when a good of team as Bryan Station goes out in the first game. Last 2 years, Henry Clay had a top 20 team and couldnt get out of a powerhouse district.

Shelby Valley to win it all. Franklin and Henry Clay in the 11th. Corbin in the 13th.

Dunbar had a nice run last season. Yes, they started hot, but definitely trailed off after the holidays. Interesting to see how Bryan Station does Tuesday against Henry Clay. Bryan Station is another team that started the season hot, and has ended on a down note.

Somewhat of a mild upset. Happy for the Creekers. Dunbar just crashed and burned late in the season.

Good to see a team with "home-grown" talent doing so well.

FC is a potential spoiler in the tough 11th region. Somehow, I don't think Scott County will win the state. 11th region is going to be tough with Franklin, Madison, LexCath, Dunbar, Bryan Station, and Henry Clay who is starting to get hot lately. Tates Creek and LCA could be a sleeper team also. Even if Scott gets out of the 11th, several team state wide who can beat them (Holmes, Elliott, Shelby Valley and others). I'd love to see one of the "mountain teams" win it this year. Shelby Valley or Elliott would be a great story.

Why the heck is Scott Co playing a team like this so late in the season? Tune up for the district?

Low scoring affair. I think Henry Clay and Tates Creek had a low point total last week. Unusual for so late in the season.

Very classy by the coaches. Nice to see a feel good story for a change. The Linton kid was a really good ballplayer, and seemed like a super person on/off the court. I was saddened at the beginning of the season to hear he would be out. But your health is more important than sports.

I think it is NOT a KHSAA rule, but each school district. In Fayette County a Middle Schooler can only play up "one level". I think that means he/she can play middle school and on the freshman team. But if they play JV and/or Varsity, I think they cannot play middle school.

HC played good throughout the first half. SC would get up 8 and HC would tie it up. Scott started the 3rd period with something like a 15-0 run. That pretty much sealed it. Best I have seen SC shoot tonight. If they do that, it will be a breeze to a state championship. Guyn and Phares had phenomenal dunks in the 2nd half. Prince Stewart struggled early for HC, but ended up with 25. Brandon Wilder, who is recovering from some kind of injury, came off the bench to score 12 points. In fact, I don't think he missed a shot all night. Barnes and Keisling played decent against the big guys for SC. Can't wait to be there on Friday night for the Mason County game. I saw Mason play earlier this year, and want to see how much they have improved over the break.

Scott County by 15 or more.

Yes I was surprised how vulnerable GRC was to the press tonight. Catholic had a good, but not great press. But they tore GRC up in the 3rd.

Danville beat Lincoln on a put back at the buzzer tonight. Good ending to the game. Each team scored 2-3 times the last 40 seconds or so. Up and down the floor, no timeouts.

Pretty thin crowd due to bad weather conditions in Central KY. Bryan Station took a 10-0 lead to start the game. Holmes fought back and took the lead at half time. Close until 4th and then Holmes took it over.

I know Henry Clay got thumped by Shelby Valley last Friday when the weather was bad there in EKY. I don't think Pike Co had school that day, but they played anyway. Of course for Henry Clay, maybe they should have stayed home ! This Tuesday a lot of games were cancelled in CKY/EKY for weather.

Looks like Bryan Station set themselves up nicely in pool play. Hmmmmm. Pool C looks to be pretty killer Anyone know anything about the Colllins Ill team?

During the summer, SV beat HC on a shot at the buzzer. Yes, HC is very young, and just had the worst night of a team ever. SV is a solid team, but not that much better.

Interesting to watch this team early in the season. I think they are now 2-2, having beat a good Christian County team. Had Bryan Station beat. Lost big at Shelby Valley from what I saw in the paper. And now to come back with a big win over Pike Central. Henry Clay has a tremendous Sophomore class. The one game I saw (Bryan Station), they were a lot of fun to watch. (Keesling and Wilder are the 2 sophs to watch) Full court, spread the floor, no real post player. Relatively small, but quick. They made some mistakes down the stretch, which cost them the game against BS. But if they keep playing well together, HC could be a surprise come tournament time. Next year, they will be back at the top of the 11th region I think. Of course they are in a killer district and region.

Agree with a lot of the other posters. Euton - I cannot believe Billy G gave this kid a scholly, especially so early. I think he looks worse this year for Scott than at Rose Hill last year. Maybe it is taking him longer to go into his new role at Scott. Guyn has definitely made progress over the last season or two. Still think he is a mid-major at best. That is if he wants to actually get on the floor in college. I love Hicks personally, and he is a great person off the court. Does a lot of good stuff nobody knows about. But I do think he is one of the "whinniest" HS coaches out there. (only one worse is Feldhaus at MC). Interesting turn of events here in this early season. Bryan Station beats Holmes. Henry Clay (although very young) almost has Bryan Station beat, but they pull it out in the end. And know Holmes beats Scott County. Gotta say, Bryan Station is the surprise of this early season. From the teams I have seen in person, they would get my #1 vote right now. Scott County has not been impressive so far. Maybe it is just integrating some many transfer players into their "system". And it is a system at Scott County. So don't count the cards out, as I think they will be awesome by end of the season. A ton of great young talent out there. Going to be a fun year.
