It was close on the foul call. Usually refs don't do that late. He was falling to the ground as he shot. Looked like a foul, but hard to say.

Saw Christian County a couple of times this year. They got better as the season went along and they got their entire roster going. Congrats. They will be a danger team in the Sweet 16.

Wow what a great great game. Taylor Martin hit 2 game winning free throws with 3.8 seconds left. I felt so bad for Richie Pharres. He grew up in the Scott County Program, unlike most of the rest of the team. He was their best player without a doubt. One of the best traditional big men to come out of KY in several years. He was just a bad matchup for most teams. And Pharres just got better and better as the season progressed. It is a shame to have an injury at such an inopportune time. SC really missed their leader tonight. Gelawn had a big night with over 30. However, he made a really bad play with about 30 seconds to go. SC was holding the ball with a 1 point lead, trying to get LC to foul. Gelawn decides to drive the lane, and throws up a circus shot which had no chance of going in. Bad decision. LC gets the ball back. They hold it, and Taylor Martin puts up a shot with 3.8 and gets fouled. Hit both, and game over. Manning for SC was in foul trouble throughout the night, which impacted SC. He will be a top national player in the years to come. A couple of times it looked like SC was getting ready to pull away. But LC would fight right back. Vee Sanford has turned into a big time D1 prospect IMO. And he is a winner in big game situations. Martin, Schuette, Beckham, Botkin, and Pierratt all had big game for LC. One of the best HS games I have seen in a long time, with so much on the line. Congrats to both teams on a fine season.

Hope Phares is OK. Nice player, and would hate to see him not be able to play.

Corbin could be a sweet 16 sleeper if they get out of their region. I have only seen them play 2 times, but have been impressed.

I really have loved watching Jenkins play the last 2 year. Was a tough year for him with the injury mid-season. Hoping he gets a scholly somewhere.

What a fun high school game! Catholic played a really nice game. Botkin was their star tonight no doubt. Best game I have seen him play this year. Had 23 points I think, and hit some key shots late (+ free throws). Sanford had a nice game, but not spectacular. HC did a good job defensively. Catholic has some nice young players in Martin, Schuette, and Becham. But tonight it was all Botkin. When Stewart went out early, it looked to be over. Henry Clay got down by 16 points or so. Kimbell (freshman I think) for HC has some sweet moves for a point guard. He carried them in the first half. This is a kid to watch the next few years. Remember that name Kimbell. Down 16, the HC coach put a new lineup in with about 4 minutes to go in the 3rd. And what a rally that group had. I understand they were basically playing with freshmen and sophomores. The Wilder kid (00) was lights out in the second half. He had 15 points in the 2nd half, hitting three's, making steals, getting rebounds. College coaches need to keep an eye on Wilder, and he should be a top junior in the state next year. I heard tonight he had been hobbled with an ankle injury through most of the season, but couldn't tell it tonight. Their big man (Barnes) has a big game inside. I was surprised how well he played against LexCaths big men. He has good moves around the basket and can handle the ball well for a guy his size. He had a fantastic cross over and take to the basket late. It was just sad to see HC's star player Prince Stewart go down and end his career on the sidelines. I have watched him play the last 2-3 years, and what a player. Kind of light a Jodie Meeks. Could light it up from anywhere. Hope he is OK, and get a chance to play at the next level. Should be a good game between LexCath and Madison Central Saturday. Looking like a fantastic 11th region finish between LexCath and Scott County.

He is already committed and signed with UK. But seems interesting 2 injuries in 2 seasons, both fractures. Hope he doesn't have what Sam Bowie did. Wishing for a speedy and fully recovery. UK needs him.

Sanford for Catholic. Phares for Scott County (plus Euton and Jackson). Johnson for Madison Central. Prince Stewart for Henry Clay.

Scott and Madison Central shouldn't have any problem in round 1. Franklin vs Lafayette could be close, but Franklin is just too good and too disciplined to loose. Yea, the best first round will be Henry Clay vs Lexington Catholic. Hard to stop Sanford, but otherwise Henry Clay matches up pretty well. If Prince Stewart can match Sanford, then up to the rest of the players to determine the outcome.

I have only seen 3 Elliott games this year, but they were a lot of fun. Hoping they can make a big run in the state. Also have seen Shelby Valley play a couple of times. Another very dangerous team to watch. Either one of these teams could win it all.

I love it every time I have seen Jenkins play. He is just a competitor and a warrior. Hope he ends up at a great school. Louisville Districts and regions are pretty tough also. Glad to see basketball doing well in KY.

Mason has really improved during the course of the year. Setty has been the most improved IMO. I was at the controversial GRC/Mason game a couple weeks ago. Expect it will be another close one if they meet again.

Look forward to Clark and Mason County meeting in the regionals. Should be another barn burner with another photo finish.

Excuse me, maybe only 3 D1 transfers so far. Rumors of another one next season. And lets not forget the other recent transfers who will be really good (Ivey, Flannery, Barber, Shotwell). 7 transfers in 2 seasons.hmmmmm....... The HC player was just standing there, and the ball had not even been inbounded. Just turned around and shoved him to the floor before the play started. At a minimum, should have been a regular foul on Gelawn. But looked intentional and very hard. Probably should have been a technical and an ejection. Not the first time I have seen Gelawn do this. He did the same thing to Shelvin Mack in the district tournament last year. He's too good of a player to do that kind of thing. Congrats to both teams. Looking forward to watching the 11th region tournament. Should be fantastic.

Henry Clay was down 21 with 3 minutes to go, and mounted a furious comeback. Prince Stewart, Brandon Nichols, Trey Stewart, and Brandon Wilder went on a steal and scoring frenzy to get within 6 with about 30 seconds to go. A couple of controversial calls late that could have made it even closer. Henry Clay got a clean steal and the refs called a jump ball, which went back to SC. Also Gelawn should have received a technical for a flagrant foul late in the game. Before the ball was inbounded he just turned around, grabbed a Henry Clay player and threw him to the court. Scott County is looking really good right now. And well they should with 4-5 D1 transfers on the team. But it will be tough to get out of the 11th (LexCath, Franklin Co, Madison Central, and even Henry Clay again. If they do, then some dangerous teams will probably await them in the sweet 16. (Holmes, Elliott, Shelby Valley, Mason County/Clark.) Congrats to both teams.

Wow, I really liked Pineville this year. Seems like a pretty big upset.

I think what it shows is just how good Shelvin Mack was. He was not only a great player and leader, but a coach on the floor. He didn't just personally take over games, but directed games. He was so good, and also cool under stress.

Interesting to see how Henry Clay does against #1 Scott County. 5 of top 8 players are D1 transfers. Wow.
