Big points from the reserves for both squads. Justin Lang had a career-high 14, Ryne King had 13, etc. MC starters probably averaged 12-15 minutes each, although that's just a guess. Lots of PT for the "third five" tonight.

Setty and Middleton, Middleton especially didn't play much tonight at all. I'd say about 10-12 minutes, if that, and they didn't need to. It was great to see the young kids, and then the even younger kids, get in the game and score the way they did. Mason County has a really bright future.

Oh please. So, we should tell the second and third group of kids to not play. Don't shoot, don't play defense, let's let them score so we don't run up the score. It would be different if he played his starters all game, but the reserves scored 3/4 of the points, and they deserved those minutes tonight.

Mason has really improved during the course of the year. Setty has been the most improved IMO.

No one should have a problem with this as all this does is give some kids who might be asked to step into a role next week in the regional tournament some reps and work on what might be asked of them from the coaching staff next week. The kids that might not get the minutes in other situations or games need to know how to rotate out of different defensive schemes and this was an excellent time to do this. Coach Hinson understands, he has used some kids in games in the regular season that normally don't get the minutes to prepare for the post season and it worked. For example Chadwick Thomas, Daniel Yeary, Ryan Gallenstein, kids like this in the 1-2-2 3/4 length trap that really affected Bracken County the other night when he was forced to go to those kids at the bench. Great job from both schools, St. Patrick congratulations on going to the regional tournament. Royals looked strong in this one and its encouraging to get the bench points and minutes that they received in this game. Best of luck to both teams next week.
