I agree Tom is a great guy as well as Dave S. I believe there is a point in time when people in general have to put their pride aside and do what is best for the program. Dixie has had too much talent over the years and currently to continue to get the same results week in and week out. Brady had an outstanding game, however, this was a team victory with a lot of kids making big plays and a team that continues to never quit! Brady will continue to be the best playmaker in NKY this year as long as he stays healthy. This kid is gutsy, sees the field very well, knows that the game is not all about him, and leaves it all on the field week in and week out.

Is it time for the Dixie Coaching Staff to turn over the reins to a new group of coaches? I do not believe this tenured group of coaches is getting the most of their kids...time for a change! NewCath out coached and out performed Dixie in all aspects of the game tonight. Pike would not have been a difference maker in this game!

I was floored today when approached by Mr. Madrick about this decision. Sad day for Covington Students and Staff. Mr. Madrick's presence will be missed greatly throughout NKY Venues. COVINGTON, Ky. -- Ron Madrick, athletic director at Covington Holmes High School since 1993, resigned Monday because of health reasons, the school announced. No replacement has been named. Madrick, who was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference Hall of Fame last year, coached high school football, leading DeSales to a 4A state runnerup finish in 1981, and joined the University of Louisville staff in 1983. He is a member of the Jefferson County Football Coaches Hall of Fame (2005) and the recipient of the Mt. Carmel Man in the Arena Award (2006).

Can't verify the forced out of CovCath story, however, I can verify he was going to continue teaching at CovCath. Coach Booher and Coach Listerman developed a very close relationship while coaching the all-star team together. This is a great hire by the Holmes High School Administration!

I have heard Mike Listerman will become the new Assistant Basketball Coach @ Holmes High School and teach Math during the 2011-2012 school year.

Will this open the door for M. Hoge to coach at the freshman level now?

Booher had a very successful year at Holmes considering the lack of varsity experience he had to work with. The administration is pleased with what he accomplished on and off the court with this group of young men. At this point there is not any knowledge of Booher leaving and he is not being asked to leave. SV took a beating at Rupp...do you believe Booher will have more opportunities coaching at Holmes to make the trip to Rupp and compete?

As of Friday the kid still lived in Covington and was enrolled at Holmes. This young man is making some bad choices!

Upset?? Holmes continues to have their number! This team is very talented and can play with anyone on any given night!

Tichenor 20 NCC 16 - NCC fumbled inside its own 5 yard line to give up the first score to Tichenor. Missed opportunities throughout the game...overall this was a great game. Tichenor has a very talented team...congrads to them! NCC has nothing to be ashamed of, Tichenor was huge across the front on both sides of the ball, causing fits for NCC most of the game. The NCC players never gave up after being down 14-0. NCC was a fun group to watch grow throughout the season as players were moved around to fill a variety of roles on the team to help the team make it to the small school championship. Congrads NCC on a great season and for winning your division championship over Newport!

Interesting information...if teams are following the rules then nothing needs to be said. I did not imply that they cheated, they were playing good aggressive defense by lining up 2 yards off the ball and the DB's coming in on the weak side the moment the ball was snapped. In the heat of battle kids are inclined to inch their way up anticipating the run if they can. I suggest the AD ensure that he attends the next coaching/rules meeting to ensure Newport is not cheated next season. Once again, 2 great games and it is unfortunate that anybody had to lose and/or get cheated!

NKMSFBL RULES FOR DEFENSE: 7. Defenses to run by a team must be declared prior to the season and remain unchanged for the course of the season with no defense having more than six (6) down linemen on the line of scrimmage. An exception to this is on situations of 4th down and short yardage (2 yards or less) or goal line when a team may go to a goal line front of no more than six (6) down linemen on the line of scrimmage. Defensive lineman must be within 1 yard of the line of scrimmage and no further than 2 yards outside of the Tight End or Offensive Tackle, whichever one is furthest from the ball. 8. No blitzing, twisting, or stacking on defense. Linebacker/Defensive Backs must be a minimum of 3 yard of the line of scrimmage (not moving toward it) when the ball is snapped. Rules are rules, they are meant to be followed. No sour grapes or anything...but rule 8 was thrown out the window last week by Newport and on Saturday evening. The LB's & DB's were packed in the box at least 3 out of 4 downs at most 3 yards off the ball.... Both games were very good and the kids played very hard on both sides of the ball. You hate to see either team lose! Newport has a very talented group of players and the team is much improved from last year. Good luck to the Breds on Saturday!
