I have heard Mike Listerman will become the new Assistant Basketball Coach @ Holmes High School and teach Math during the 2011-2012 school year.

If that's true it's safe to say he didn't leave on his own right?

Wow! That is almost Pitino like isn't it? Imagine Dale Mueller leaving Highlands and becoming an assistant at Cov Cath. Am I off target in seeing it this way? How old is Listerman? Obviously, Listerman will get to become part of the KY state teacher's retirement plan by going to a public school but did it have to be at Holmes? Maybe yes as teacher jobs are tougher to come by these days. :idunno:

Nice get by the Dogs. Makes things pretty obvious that Coach L was forced out at CovCath or tired of dealing with all of the issues that came to a head with the infamous e-mail. Shame the Birds could not have gotten him as he would be an asset on the bench for any team.

Wow a big loss for Cov Cath as even if he was not the coach, he was still one heck of a guy and a tremendous teacher. Best of luck Coach, and congrats to Holmes.

Can't verify the forced out of CovCath story, however, I can verify he was going to continue teaching at CovCath. Coach Booher and Coach Listerman developed a very close relationship while coaching the all-star team together. This is a great hire by the Holmes High School Administration!

Aside from being a good coach, from what I have read on BGP he is a great teacher and great person. That to me is more important for the kids at Holmes than anything else. We all know Holmes will always have the athletes, but if Coach Listerman can help kids achieve success with the baggage they bring with them to school, this hire will be wonderful.

Good to hear Coach L with an opportunity to keep doing what he loves.

I am sorry to see Coach L. leave Cov. Cath. and wish him the best in his new position as the Bulldogs' assistant coach. I remember reading comments made by Coach Listerman's mentor, Coach Shields, about the Holmes coaching position. In loose paraphrase, Coach Shields was intrigued by the prospect of coaching the great talent in the Holmes program. Many thanks to Coach Listerman for the guidance he provided to Covington Catholic students (players and non-player alike). Good luck next year (except of course when you cross paths with the Colonels.)

Coach Listerman has always stood for what is right. Has always been a quality person and a great math teacher. That even goes back to his days at Harrison Co. when he got his first head coaching job. It was politics that forced him out of Cynthiana some 28 years ago. Congrats Coach L!!!

Hoopin you're right on both counts of the politics, best of luck to him and the bulldogs. Will be interesting to see how the crazies react when CCH plays Holmes, Coach L. always made them feel part of the team. He will be missed in many ways at CCH
