That's always what it's about at Holmes. I'm not sure this hire helps that. If they do listen and buy into the coaches though they will have a lot of good info to listen to.

 

Outside looking in ... I would think one of the big positives about coaching at Holmes is if one of the kids won't listen, there is another one with just as much talent standing there waiting for a chance. But I hear what you are saying ... what do you do when none of them will listen, right? Still, there should be enough talent at Holmes to find a group that will play the way you want them to.

Bottom line is, when Coach L became a Free Agent you can bet your bottom dollar that Ron Madrick was waiting on his door step that next morning with a contract in hand. Excellent pickup and even though Holmes may only be ranked 4th or 5th preseason, adding Coach L to the staff along with Wimzie and Booher will likely make that team more like top 2 or 3. If those kids listen to those coaches and execute they will be the best coached team in the 9th Region by far.

With Holmes returning Rice, Coston, Palmer, and Englemon, they'll easily be top 3 in the region.

 

Rice is hands down the most athletic player in the region this year and at 6'5 should be tough to handle because of his versatility.

Coston will prove to be one of the better shooters in the region this year and really lit it up from outside this past season as a soph. He also played very well at the JV level as well.

Palmer is a very good jr pg that had a coming out party in the region tourney against Boone with 17. He is a good floor general and also knows how to score when needed. He will need to add strength but is very quick with the rock.

Englemon is a kid that simply has a high motor. He stepped in last year late in the season when Peterson left the team and the Dogs didn't miss a beat down low. He is a very good rebounder and is good for frustrating opposing players with his in your face defense.

 

The JV squad last year wasn't very big but they have some very nice athletes with guys like Mullins-Evans and Tre Lewis, who will be back with the team this year. The sophomore to be class has several good players with Keyontae Herndon, who very well could start as a soph this year, Jamonte Wilson, who was a standout football player last year at the varsity level, and 6'5 Marcus Hill, who has improved tremendously from what I've heard.

 

Also heard they have a 6'7 kid coming out this year that didn't play last year as a frosh due to transferring in too late. Not sure how good he is but you can't teach size.
