Assuming the weather lets up by tomorrow, Campbell Co will travel to Covington to take on the Dogs.

Holmes comes in 12-4, having won 9 of their last 10 and 5 straight.

Campbell Co comes in 11-6.

Thoughts?

Holmes pressure and speed will cause problems for Campbell. Holmes by 10.

If Holmes continues to play the way they have, they should win this one by 8-12.

Dogs will need Gray to keep playing the way he has lately, attacking the rim and finishing, with Hayes and Rice chipping in 10+.

Should be interesting to see how sophomore Quan Palmer matches up with McGovney. Both played together for KY Elite.

I'll go with the Dogs at home:

Holmes: 71

Campbell Co: 62

Holmes by 5.

Also looking forward to seeing these two sophs go at each other. However, Palmer did not play for KY Elite. Anyone know what AAU team he ran with last year?

My Prediction: Camels be 2 in OT.

Bad news for Pierre Mayfield. He has a torn ACL. Operation on Monday, obviously his season is done. I talked with him Saturday and he said it was doing well. He then had the MRI on Monday and was informed. Tough loss for the kid. He is a great kid. Palmer will need to step up for the 'dogs at the point. Holmes should get this one by about 10.

Palmer plays for James Pouncy NKY Tarheels/Select along with McNeil, Hatton, Avey...They have all played for James for a number of years.

He must be a very young sophomore and how many exemptions does that team have I wonder. He is very smooth on the court, I like his game.

They also used out of state exemptions in the Ky AAU state. As for the thread. I like Holmes in this one. They are quicker than Camp Co. and play taller than they are. This could provide fits for Camp. Co. If they can stop McGovney they could win by 15. If McGovney finds a way to score (which he normally does) it will be much closer.

This game is still on for tonight.

You're right. It was the TarHeels that he played with. That team consisted of Avery, Hatton, Beal, and Palmer to name a few. It was McClendon who played with McGovney and KY Elite. That's why I originally got confused.

I heard this as well. I think Palmer is good enough to step in and take over for Holmes to the point where they don't miss a beat, but they will miss Pierre's enthusiasm and senior leadership. Definetly a blow to Holmes' depth as well. They'll need both Coston and Amison to really step their games up as they will both be counted on now to contribute off the bench.
