Jordan Gilbert was #20. You are referring to Phil Barner #52. He is playing for Darius's old AAU team the D-1 Greyhounds. Treg Setty is playing for the D1 Greyhounds also. Blueford didn't play varsity this year for Mason, I believe he must be taking Setty's place on this team.

I saw this game also. It's funny, why is Trevor Setty the only kid from Kentucky to be called out as playing bad? I really didn't see anyone wearing blue play very good. There was NOTHING exciting about this game at all!

Everyone talks about what fine upstanding Christian kids these are and I hope that this is true. Because these kids are going to face MAJOR adjustments off the court. Going from a class A school to a 6 A school is going to be culture shock. Not to mention other outside influences and challenges that these kids may be facing such as jealously and possible resentment from other team mates. Just something interesting I thought I might throw out there.

Before Kentucky goes to a class system I think you'll see a separate division for private schools. It's been talked before and I think it should and probably will happen somewhere down the road.

Which district are they going to move them in to? The 38th with Harrison, Pendleton, Deming & Nicholas or the one with Clark, Montgomery, Paris & Bourbon Co. :lol:

Darius Miller deserves the award. But even if he didn't get it, I'm sure that state championship ring will mean more in the long run. By the way, he signs autographs on UK stuff as #1, not his Mason Co. number 21. Maybe you should look at the head to head competition between the two kids, for those of you who are still undecided.

Not really fair to compare these 2 teams. BOTH teams did what they had to do to find a way to win. BOTH were great teams that had great players. Basketball has changed over the past 5 years and you can't really compare apples and oranges.

A quick question. I didn't think the MVP would be named to the all tourny team as well. It seems like Darius won the award twice. Have they always done this? Ethan King did deserve the award, he was consistant the whole tourny, but I believe Setty did as well seeing that he was named MVP of the Elliott Co. game. Another interesting fact, was that in the 3 games prior to the finals. Mason Co had 3 players name MVP' s of games Setty, Miller & Middleton. Way to play like a team! I for one would like to see the 10th region do something of this sort.

There are lots of scholarships available for minority students. If he has the grades & ACT scores, which it sounds like he does, then that is always an option.

I wouldn't underestimate Mason Co. next year. Their very talented j.v. squad only lost 1 game this year. Everyone seems to say that they lack varsity experience but the information that everyone is forgetting is that these kids played tougher competition in practice everyday than those with the varsity experience played in games. I think they'll be right in the thick of things at least in the 10th region, in March next year.

08 Bryan Station. I think they just picked a bad night to play an off game. After seeing them play several times this year, I feel they were the best team in the 11th region, but just not on the night that it mattered the most.

If bad calls lost the game why did Mason County have more fouls called on them then Elliot County did. I wonder this does not add up. Mason county was also not very good at foul shots tonight. They will really have to pick it up tomorrow night or everyone may be headed back to Maysville. I still want to see the 10th region pull it out. Go Royals !

Going up on Thursday as well, after the UK game of course. I think I may break out the Mason Co. blue too. Hey Goldie, wouldn't it be a cardinal sin in Winchester for you to wear Mason Co blue? You might want to stick to UK blue for fear they may not let you back in.:lol:

Maybe you can talk those to into a 1 on 1 game sometimes just to see who wins. Maybe one day next week sometime. :jump:

I still haven't figured this one out. I guess it helps when the KHSAA is located in Lexington and depends alot on the name of the school.:lol:

I think this is the big issue. It is 45 minutes to an hour from Mt. Sterling to Maysville, the Northern Ky kids were the ones I felt sorry for. I personally think a 2 plus hour drive on a school night for ANY STUDENT on a bus is an issue. I believe it would be hard for them to be alert in school the next day. For some reason, most on this board aren't concerned about the kid's education though. I also believe IF the final had been on a weekend, the crowd would have been bigger. I thought the Montgomery Co. fans were late coming in because the Mason Co. side filled up much faster. I also believe the drive was a factor for the Deming fans. The Mt. Olivet people usually turn out big for Deming tournament games no matter who they play. In their district finals they had a great crowd. My biggest complaint was the concession stand lines. They can only serve 1 person at a time where the round concessions at the fieldhouse can serve several at a time. I have no knowledge of the food or the prices or I can't tell you how long the wait was because I chose to not stand in the line. However on the first night, there were no lines. No one ever said that Montgomery Co. wasn't a nice facility or that the workers were rude. Most everyone's complaints or concerns focused on seating and GOD seemed to take care of that problem. Okay as for those famous potties, the one I went too (and I'm not going to tell you which one it was) wasn't all that spectacular, just a pot. Scratches on the walls, just like you would see in any other high school in the country. I took a picture, but I can't get it to upload! I'll say it again, the best team wins no matter where the game is played and that very thing held true again this year.
