Go back and read the thread 2008-09 10th region predictions thread. Most are placing them a distant 2nd. As I stated. Anyone would be foolish to underestimate them this year.

Not the one I'm referring to. The one I'm referring to is with their AAU team NOT the one in which schools played in. I believe their team is "Shining Stars". Hamm played on this one as well. If you go back and look on previous threads it is mentioned somewhere. As that is where I read it to start out with.

I'm a little confused here. I thought the title of this thread was Mason Co 2008-09 and not lets compare GRC to Mason Co and discuss Robert Hatton. Back to the original thread title, I think that anyone who belives this team will be a pushover is greatly mistaken. Russ Middleton and Keith Downing are returning starters from a state championship team. That experience just can't be duplicated. If I'm not mistaken, they also won an AAU state title this year as well. With those 2 as a given, you must also figure in Ryan Hamm, who played a major role in the regional championship game last year, Treg Setty and Phil Barner who have both played on Darius Miller's old AAU team the D-1 greyhounds all Summer. I look for improvement from both as a result of that experience. Neal Pawsat is also a player, he'll be late to join the team this year due to being the starting quarterback for the football team, but this kid is an all around athlete. Yes the Royals lost alot but anyone who counts this team out is a fool!

I believe everyone was told that the business in Montgomery Co were going to make up the difference in revenue this year. My question is WHY that didn't happen and why each team received well over $1000.00 less than the year before? It seems to me that everyone was lied to about the business and now no one wants to talk about it. As for next year, yes you may get more people to come BUT you will now have to divide the money 16 ways instead of 8. I know the 10th region has always been well attended but does the 9th region usually generate as much revenue or will they be taking money away from the schools in the 10th again this year?

When are they going to start stripping all those 10th region hall of fame plaques from the lobby of the fieldhouse? Since no one considers that to be the home of the tournament any more then it seems only fair to remove all of that stuff. I'm sure the folks at Mason Co could use the space for their own awards. Maybe all that memoribilia could travel along with the tournament.:lol:

Wow Man!!! Did you get lost? According to mapquest, the driving time from Winchester to Maysville is 1 hour and 15 minutes, a total of 60.73 miles. These directions usually estimate driving times long when I'm behind the wheel. Also according to mapquest, driving time from Winchester to Fort Thomas is 1 hour and 42 minutes, a total of 104.03 miles. If it takes you 2 hours to drive to Maysville it might take you 3 or more to drive to NKU.

I believe that St. Pat has been very good to Jason, I find it difficult to believe that he would leave. I guess time will tell. Is he certified yet? That could be a factor as well.

I believe this position has been filled. Someone from outside the district who will teach at the middle school.

I believe that Thomas Mitchell has been hired as the new Deming Lady Devils Coach. I spoke to a parent of one of their players.

I'm still trying to figure out if the fieldhouse is good enough to hold that Junior / Senior all star game on Monday. Yes, the 10th region will be back in the fieldhouse next year, WHERE IT BELONGS! It is my understanding the the head honcho at WKYT had everything to do with this transfer. You might also want to remember that the kids foot is in a cast and sometimes injuries like that aren't so easy to bounce back from remember Derrick Jasper?

It sounds like the people at St. Patrick are trying to pass the buck as to who actually made this decision. I can't belive that after 30 years of loyalty to a school system that Lex Turner would be treated this way. I think it shows very poor taste plus a lack of consideration for a loyal employee and his family.

Wow! GRC must have a real problem with drop outs to have someone in a position like this. I hope he was successful in keeping all those kids in school.

Exactly. I almost made that comparison myself. Classified position is the new fancy term they use. It also includes the secretaries and I pretty much figured he wasn't doing that. I didn't realize the term teacher's aide was a dirty word as most school systems couldn't function without them.

Is he in a certified position? No. If not then it is a classified position. Same as a teacher's aide which is also a classified position.

That's a good one. NOT!!! I thought this thread was about GRC firing all of their coaches. IF the rumors I'm hearing are true about the $ being paid for the positions of teachers aides then I can see why the BOE pink slipped everyone in times of tight budgets. Put Humprey back in a classroom and let him teach and coach like the majority of coaches in KY do. They have an open social studies position posted on KDE. As for Graham, let him make what every other teacher's aide in the district makes and hire him back as well.

That's true. You certainly would run the risk of making someone mad and them looking for greener pastures. He had to be close to his tenure year. How long has he been at GRC? But then again, if he wasn't really teaching would tenure come into play? Who knows? I guess time will tell.

Don't worry. According to KDE's web site Clark Co. High School has 6 job openings for teachers (math, science, social studies, english, family & consumer science and LBD). All were posted within the past 10 - 12 days. I'm sure that if Coach is certified in any of these areas, you'll see him back on the sidelines. The coaching position isn't posted. Sometimes schools send out pink slips even when they know they will hire the person back.

I believe most school districts or at least those I know of have a classified person in this role. I'm really suprised that a certified person would have this position. Maybe the administration believes that they can hire this as a classified position, to save money, and move Coach Humphrey back into the classroom?:confused: Are there any openings with his certification in the Clark Co. school district?
