What could be wrong at GRC? They have talent, they have youth, and they will have a legitamate shot to win the 10th region the next few years.

Where is goldsunrise....she might be able to shed light on thewaterboy's question.

Districts all of the state have made cutbacks, my school alone cut 5 positions, maybe its bigger than a basketball issue....maybe it's a budget/staffing issue?

I've heard things as well, but nothing official.

I believe today, the 15th, is the date that all school personel in Kentucky have to recieve contract renewal notifications via letters.

A.K.A.- Pink slip day.

This is always a tense time of year at most schools; and with the current "budget climate", this year is especially so. My understanding is that several schools go through a similar process re. pink slips, then hiring back.

The coach at Clark County is a fine young coach; it would be a loss to the school and the 10th region if he would have to leave.

Wow. So you are saying that all the coaches got pink slips for their coaching duties? Aren't they payed, for their coaching duties, on a yearly bases? So, this will not save money, not paying them just during the summer, and re-hiring them in the fall, will it?

Yes it is a budget issue.

Coach Humphrey did get a pink slip for his coaching and job. The funding for his position was among the big budget cuts we are seeing across the state. Also ALL assistant coaches from all sports and all levels got pink slips for just their coaching duties. I am sure most will be hired back but at this point we don't know.

I will say, with coaches blessing, that there is a unhappy board member with the athletic program. I do hope that our system will put our kids first and do what is best for them and keep the coaching staffs we have and continue to build our programs.

Thats a bunch of bull, a board member with a grudge. They need to leave coach and the rest of the coaches alone and quit micromanaging. It is not the job of the school board to deal with personnel...that's the principal's job!

The lady board member holds a grudge and thinks she has the best interest of Clark County, all the while, Clark Co. isn't good enough for her kids. I think, I may be wrong, but her kids attended Lexington Catholic instead of Clark County.

This board member should be ousted in the next election...or perhaps removed for other reasons immediately.

This is absurd.

Waterboy is right.

What I don't understand is that school board members are pretty powerless and should be by law, powerless to make sole personnel issues without the consent of the entire board, especially. For some odd reason, "some" board members across our state think they have power, when they really don't have anything. But when their is NO support from within or support from the Super, then you have this mess. Superintendent here needs to step up to the plate and stop the public relations bleeding that he is encountering, all thanks to one person. Only in America! 1 person is the majority rule? This is a prime example.

One board member that turns his/her position into a political one can ruin an entire district. Bottom line is there main job is to hire/fire the Super as well as develop and vote on policy, everything else is in (and should be in) the Principal's hands. People take for granted the school board vote, I dont want even to get into a discussion about the board in my district.....

I agree. That's crazy to have someone sitting on the board when they won't send their own kids there.
