How do you think the 2008 Mason Co. team would match up against the 2003 Mason Co. team? Here are the rosters...

Am I crazy to think that the '08 team could beat the '03 team?

Not a Mason fan, but I watched both teams play. On paper the 2008 team would be a tough Matchup for the 2003 team because of the size advantage, but Lofton and Co. would win 7 out of 10 times if they played imo.

Both are great teams and I'm not sure who would win but let's not forget Darius played for the 03 team as well.

I followed the 03 team here on BGP, but never saw them or the 04 team play. :cry:

 

So the only opinion I can offer is that because the 03 team was fairly small, they would get manhandled on the boards, much like what happened to Holmes in the finals.

 

I can imagine both teams play that same hard nosed, attacking defense and I'm sure both had their fair share of great shooters from the outside. So I would have to go with 08 just for having some kind of inside game and the ability for 2nd shots.

2003

2003 may lack size but they make up for it in speed, smarts, and strength. The '03 team lacked size in many games they played but still managed to rebound very efficiently. The '03 team would win by 20+

2003 team by 10 maybe better. Even if Darius guarded Chris he couldnt stop him, watching Darius play, he rarely plays defense out past the 3 point line. The Chris Lofton I seen play high school ball was not afraid to take a 25 or 30footer. Also, Wes Jones was a terrific defender and i believe he could give Miller fits. So take him somewhat out of the scoring threat and 08 Mason cant hang with him. Setty would have to be draining the 3 ball for mason to compete. Also just to throw it out had Wes Jones been able to play the 04 State Tournament, Mason would have been one of the few to win consecutive titles.
