How could Collins be a "big underdog" when they came into the game with a record of 18-11, while Anderson Co. came into the game at 16-11? Just wondered.

Wow, a 26-point turnaround from game #1 to game #2! When was the last time that South did not advance to the region tourney? This just might turn out to be Trimble's year.

Which teams have been scheduled to play six or more of these teams during the regular season? Six seems to be a fair number to determine strength of schedule.

With Butler just losing to Meade Co., the same might be said of them. ... on paper it's a Butler win, but the game won't take place on paper.

Looking at this list of teams, I wondered which teams have played/will play the greatest number of the teams listed in this week's poll.

Male wants to create havoc a super-up-tempo game, with their defense generating easy transition points. If you can counter that with discipline on the offensive end, not only might you score, but you diminish their defense-generated points. It's not easily done and most opponents have not succeeded at it, but from what has been posted, evidently Shelby pulled it off. Congrats to them.

I agree, in which case it is a viable tactic. The question I really have is if a timeout is granted - and according to the rules it is not, as you've pointed out - could the coach requesting it decline it if given, stating that it is a violation of the rule? If this scenario did play out, it definitely would be a disruption to the shooter, which would be the devious intent of the coach's request. (Hey, this sounds like something the NE Patriots might try. Ha, ha.)

Here is another "Another Question." Team A is shooting a FT. The player has been given the ball. Opposing Team B's coaches and players begin yelling for an immediate timeout once the shooter has the ball. 1) Is the timeout request granted? 2) Is this a violation against the non-shooting team? 3) Is this a viable strategy for distracting or freezing the FT shooter?

Some of us are eagerly awaiting the scoop on this one. No details were reported in the C-J this morning. The 7th and 8th regions girls' b-ball world has been shaken up by this upset! The plot must be a thick one. I hope the outcome is due to a combination of excellent play by the Lady Rockets and not-so-good play by the Lady Bulldogs, and not the guests "getting striped" on the road.

I agree. I was not aware that "everyone" was horrified by "stall ball." It's not the favorite of anyone I know, and certainly not mine, but to legislate it into extinction would be foolish ... FOOLISH! It is a part of the game, and it should remain a part of the game. It is a legitimate way for a team to attempt to be competitive, and it forces the hand of the other team to react competitively to counter it. You don't see boxing rings that are being reduced to 4' X 4' just because somebody doesn't like the rope-a-dope, or the sting and float. Why? Because they are legitimate tactics for not getting your brains scrambled. Same goes for basketball.

Are the Lady Raiders healthy, focused and on track to cut down the nets at district tourney time? This may be there break-through year.

Ballard -- Class of 2014, Javonna Layfield and Aundrea Matchen Surely, Manual, Sacred Heart, Eastern, Butler, Mercy, Assumption, Male and CAL might also have some players, as well.

Wow! Is this score really considered to be an upset or not? This season seems to lack real dominance the by higher-ranked teams. Somebody has to be listed #1, #2, #3, etc., but that doesn't always translate into being prohibitive favorite, which means that this year's rankings may be misleading, while not being totally inaccurate. (If that makes sense.)

Neither team seems to have found itself yet, which is understandable for a young SHA bunch, but should not be an issue for a veteran Manual squad. Evolution? Yes! Both teams ought to find out much about themselves tonight.

Several JCPS "regulars" from recent years are not present on this list. Is there really shifting of power in the Louisville area going on, are is this just a temporary thing?

WOW #2!!! I thought the CAL-Eastern score was a surprise, but this is even bigger!!!

WOW!!! Not saying the 28th is the best or the strongest district around this year, but it normally is one of the most competitive districts in the state. The last few years, the 28th has had three top line schools vying for only two post-season spots, which is not the norm. Despite CAL having the most veteran team in the district returning from last year, after the strong start by Eastern, this score takes me by surprise. Oh well, that's why we play the games - the "on-paper" previews don't always pan out. Congrats to CAL, and Eastern will surely bounce back.

This list looks like a pretty good start for 2015. BGP fans can always split a few hairs here and there, often with good reason. Male is up there pretty high, maybe surprisingly to some, but they deserve to be near the top, as does Butler. Eastern could stand to move up a few notches; those who are beating the Simon Kenton drum are probably correct, too. The 11th region isn't represented much - is it down a bit this year; is there another 12th region team close enough to Mercer Co. to join the group in the future?

The Lady Pioneers have a very nice, solid team. They are very well drilled and fundamentally sound - as are all of Coach Stowers' teams. They are the No. 1 team in 8th at present, and they should take home the SOHS Hoop-Fest tourney crown this weekend. They are 6-0 for good reason.

Well ... one down and two to go, so it seems. The Lady Eagles are, at the very least, No.-3 in the 7th region at this time. There's way too much time between now and the end to lock into any real pecking order now, they are now in the top three --- no doubt about it.
