Just curious since everyone get upset about stall ball, why is there no push for a 35 sec clock like they have in AAU, College, Pros? In several games I've watched this happen. 2 min left in the second half of Highland Vs Homes game was almost used as a resting point for the Bulldogs to catch their breath. Why not call a time out? Why not press from the opposing teams, especially if you have the advantage or run?

That was as much about foul trouble and personel as anything and served the purpose intended by the coach. HHS could have came out to defend and pressed the issue but didn't...

But... It's a strategy he has used when in foul trouble. And the results worked out in his favor I would say.

I totally agree, but why not a shot clock, most these varsity girls play AAU, they know what it takes to play a high pressure, intense game, why not at HS? Take that part out, then maybe you'll see a different outcome of how these coaches coach, and players play. Not just intended by coaches, but is was about fatigue as well. Not one player was not our of breath, heck, I felt like I was breathing for them, you could see it in their eyes and chest. 35 sec clock KHSAA please.

Officials at the HS level have too much to process as it is. When they can get charge/block calls right 50% of the time, then maybe we can consider the additional burden of a shot clock!

In a similar vein, having a shot clock means having someone qualified to operate a shot clock. Lots of schools barely have someone who knows how to run the regular clock, keep score, and put fouls on the board.

I would love a shot clock it would favor my team in most scenarios but I do think it would hurt an already struggling inside game in high school girls bball.

What does a 35 second shot clock solve in 8 minute quarters?

Fatigue had nothing to do with Holmes holding the ball the last 2 minutes of the FIRST half last night against Highlands. They had at least 3 girls in foul trouble and Highlands had 2. It actually benefitted Highlands as well because it allowed them to keep Graves and Combs in the game with 2 fouls. At the time, Highlands had a 4 point lead thus there is no reason for them to come out and push the issue.

I have always wondered why no shot clock as well. Not that I agree with 4 corners or "stall ball" but I have wondered why more coaches do not utilize it as a weapon since there is not one.

getting/training personnel that's already tough to find to operate it.

training officials on the rules

It's difficult enough for most schools to have someone to keep the score/time clock, especially small school systems. I know this very well from being a former Athletics Director. It would only add to the difficulty by adding an extra time keeper to the list of duties. Colleges and bigger high schools wouldn't have an issue with it, but it's not that easy for other systems.

Beat me to it; the cost of installation and maintenance. Some schools barely have scoreboards that work.

 

Besides, I'm a little old school; I don't mind a team that can get a lead and use ball control to eat the clock. It isn't the easiest thing to do; often backfires.
