Campbell County's New Stadium
Wow--Hard to imagine how a program just struggling to survive can inspire such hatred--Especially from a FT guy??

Pendleton County / Covington Catholic (Predictions)
Agree that I saw little (yet) of the belittling on this particular thread, but my point is what is gained by restating the oh-so-obvious in a game like this?? I for one thought it was refreshing last week to not see a NCC-Brossart "prediction" thread for example, like the one last year with multiple 100-0+ "predictions". Obviously BGP'ers are free to discuss anything within the rules of the site; but I just see no purpose in these type threads when the outcome is pretty obvious, and the "predictions" only serve to belittle the inferior opponent?? Just my opinion.

Is this a "HS football game" thread or a religious thread??

Campbell County/Simon Kenton Predictions
Man after reading this the real question seems to be does Trinity or any other 6-A team have a prayer against the SK machine??

Pendleton County / Covington Catholic (Predictions)
Is it really necessary to have a "prediction thread" on this type of game, so everyone can find a different way to denigrate PC's program, and come up with cute anecdotes to describe the vast difference in talent between the programs?? Easy to understand why PC is playing an independent schedule next year--To allow their kids to compete while building a program without the ridicule of "prediction threads" on websites when they're forced to play schools like Highlands & CovCath. Best of luck to both teams for the remainder of the season.

As an observer of this BB football "experiment" from the beginning, I will disagree with this statement emphatically!! First, the timing was way off--They should have started this in the '98-'00 timeframe when it was first championed; as the athlete pool was much better at that point, and the competition for players wasn't nearly as strong. BB had some very good classes of athletes come through the school from the late 90's through '07; and had football been an option, who knows where this program could be?? Second, when they did finally start football in '06, it should have played out much differently, using the model of say Walton Verona IMO; where you start with a group of younger players (say middle school?) and bring them up together playing a progressive schedule (frosh, JV then varsity as they reach junior/senior year). Work hard to keep the interest in the program at the lower levels to restock the ranks, and you should have expectations for longterm success. Unfortunately, the rush to varsity play proved to be just as suicidal as many had predicted! Thirdly, bad luck/planning hasn't helped matters. The team was building some modicum of success when the rug got ripped out with the move to 2-A based on older numbers. Biggest problem was this pitted them directly against their biggest rival for kids in NCC, who obviously already had a winning tradition in place. In single A the Beechies would still have provided a huge mountain to climb, but they were becoming competitive with the other district foes; and most importantly seldom were in competition with these schools for players. The resurgence of Campbell County's program and the economic slowdown causing drops in overall private school enrollments further compounded the problems. Lots of coaching changes (early with the head coaches, and later with a assistant merry-go-round) haven't helped; but again success begets success, and it's just not an attractive option for players or coaches right now? Real question--Where to go now?? It's hard to find another win on the schedule; and the fact there's only 20-22 on the roster in grades 10-12 isn't very encouraging?? To their (and the coaches & fan's) credit, the kids flat won't quit; but is there the same commitment from the school & administration to football??

It was a long-long line and a cold-cold night! Warm if you made the gym though.

Memorable 10th Region Games
The 2005 Pendleton County-Brossart first round district game @ Bracken County? Set up by the district non-seeding, ended up pitting arguably the two best teams in the region that season in a first round district game. PC prevailed in a barn burner that was every bit as tension filled as the regional final it could/shoiuld have been.

Guessing he'll be "+"!:thumb: Great job Jake--Good start for the 'Stangs.

B.J. Aldridge and Corey Pelle To Coach The Silver Grove Big Trains
No argument from me about Corey's talents and ability to single-handedly take over or keep the 'Trains in games. Good to hear he's coming home to help out, and hopefully he & Coach Aldridge can stoke the interest in that program again. I'll take exception that they would have "rolled Brossart" if he'd had some help, and think that comment does a dis-service to both Corey's teammates and the 2007 Mustangs, who did finish the year #1 in NKY that year. I remember a couple of kids named Wiseman & Allen that were pretty good players for the Trains, along with Corey's younger cousin. I don't think anyone in the area had more respect for CP and his game than did the kids on that BB team, as many of them had grown up playing multiple sports with Corey. again, best of luck to the new coaches and the 12'-13' Big Trains!

Who will the Mustangs play next?

Bishop Brossart 5 St. Xavier 3
Final--Now this might qualify as an upset. Way to go Mustangs--Keep it going!

Brossart 4 Pikeville 2
Doubt there will be any Dropo references? For the record, Mustang is a great three sport announcer; and possesses many equally obscure references and colorful phrases in football & basketball.

Holy Cross Coach Steps Down
Good luck to Coach Holtz in his future undertakings. Pat will do a great job--A very organized and motivating coach.

2012 All 10th Region team
Brossart's Fardo, "the OF with a good arm"; just pitched his way to his 8th win of the season in the first round of the state tourney to advance his team to the elite eight??

Newport Central Catholic 3 Highlands 1
Congrats to the 'Breds on the title and to the 'Birds on a great season! Any chance of an All-NKY final, haven't seen the brackets?

Brossart got the goldmine Harrison got the shaft
If I understand the ruling correctly, its that he made no attempt to avoid contact, not that he stepped into it?? How about congratulations to BB on a great win and first regional championship instead of all the whines? Taking nothing away from this HC team, as they had a fine season; but doesn't HC have a bit of a "history" of getting "HBP" a lot, as well as having one of the most liberal strike zones know to man for the home team's pitchers in Cynthiana??

Bishop Brossart 2 George Rogers Clark 1 (8 innings)
Congrats to the Mustangs. Go get another upset today!

10th Region Semis
Interesting to see that Brossart is only the 3rd largest "A" school in the 10th in terms of # of boys--Seems like I've heard a lot of whining over the years on here about them being too large to be a "true A" school??

Campbell County 51 Scott 40
BB joined the 10th a lot earlier than '06--They won the region for the only time in '00. I'm pretty sure CC & BB were in the 38th with PC before '06?

Campbell County 51 Scott 40
Congrats to the Camels--When's the last time they won the district?
-
Pendleton County 36 Harrison County 33
What?? Not one "like watching paint dry", "should give the fans their money back", "booorrrring", etc.?? Opps forgot, Brossart wasn't in this game. Congrats to PC on the big win--Good luck the rest of the way!!
