  1. Sounds like I'm getting there--Thanks! Hopefully these other HC's are smarter than Sean Miller, doing the negotiating himself?
  2. Sorry--Work & surgery getting in the way of BGP time.:thumb:
  3. Sounds a lot like the old Eastern Bloc Communist countries Olympic "amateur athletes"?
  4. Interesting thing I heard today is that in 52 Super Bowls, the point spread has only figured in the betting payoff 7 times. Favorite either covered or the dog won outright all but 7 times.
  5. Doubt Marvin learned anything (probably didn't watch and was out "chopping wood"), and Mikey is probably busy figuring out how much he'll save by not making the playoffs? Seriously, I doubt they learned anything as listening to Mike Brown's interview, he's already got it all figured out. Marvin's answer to everything is "We've just got to do better at..................". Guessing he thinks he'll "will" the team to be better next year? On another note, why would Marvin ever play cautious; he's essentially got a lifetime contract?
  6. Come on now, if you count their two SB years; they average one playoff win every ten years?? 5-14 all time--Be glad you have a franchise in Cincinnati!
  7. At least we know why it took so long to set it up now--Had to make those calls to the 702 to see which way they needed??
  8. Interesting points and certainly some improvements often noted in the "Marvin Era". For Bengals' fans, I hope you're correct. The fact remains he's a bad in game coach, that is legendary at mismanaging the clock & timeouts; and makes little if any, half time adjustments? Concerns for me would include comments like those made after the Vikings & Bears' games, when asked if he thought his team played flat or lacked effort; ole' Marv responds "Well it's not my job to get them to play hard, they're professionals"?? Can't imagine any great coach uttering anything like that?? On the bolded, if you think Mikey is "completely out of the decision making loop", give me a call & I've got some lush oceanfront property in Campbell County I'll sell you very reasonably?
  9. Some great points made by everyone on the talent assessment/evaluation issues. All point to one thing--This staff, from top to bottom is incompetent and/or doesn't know how to evaluate or utilize talent. Not the cornerstone of a winning franchise, yet the top dog gets a contract extension; and will undoubtedly bring back some of his cronies?? Mind boggling!!
  10. Agree with most of what I've seen above, so DITTO!! At least for me the timing was right for me, as it's garbage night--Off to put my Bengals' stuff out for Rumpke's!!
  11. Not necessarily blaming Marvin for those either, but the staff & management needs to accept the blame for these type misses? When scout team guys outplay your 1st rounders then somebody's not paying attention??
  12. Agree it's gotten better, but letting two OL starters walk without quality replacements was bad IMO, especially a great leader & locker room guys like Whit. Heck, he was a far better team spokesperson than Marvin--At least he told it somewhat like it was, not the same canned lines that ML spews game after game.
  13. While I don't think the Bengal's roster would make them 10 of 10 or whatever in terms of attractiveness; the kicker would be the limited control of your destiny that a Bengals' HC has. Mikey only has room for one opinion in his operation, and it's his. Throw in his legendary cheapness on the front office, scouting, facilities, keeping key players, etc. and it might be near the bottom of the open jobs in the interest of prospective HC's? Always seem to get either an insider or first timer, just happy to be one of the 32? All that said, I'm moving into the camp that Marvin will stay and little will change. And the enduring quest for mediocracy will continue, and Mikey & family's bank accounts will continue to grow.
  14. Read a great tweet on this, that said "This is the closest Marvin Lewis will ever come to winning a playoff game"!
  15. Agree that a big thanks is due to Marvin for turning this franchise around from a laughingstock to respectability. Also agree it's time for a new look for the Bengals and Marvin; although I kind of rolled my eyes when I saw the candidates listed in the paper this morning? Keep hearing rumblings about a front office job for Marvin, could this be the time when Mike Brown does the unthinkable in his mind & hire a GM? And if so, could it be Lewis?? If so, it would seem very "Bengal-like".
  16. Makes perfect sense as the 3 yards needs to be on one play. Anyway, worked out well............for Northwestern. Just another way for a KY team to lose.
  17. Dumb--NW hadn't scored in the 2nd half on offense, KY had a couple of stops in key situations, NW had done nothing but run w/o their QB & even easier to defend in a short field in OT--Kick the point & see what happens. Stoops must have had a plane to catch; why put the whole game they fought for on the fate of one play. Anything can happen in OT in college.
  18. Wow--Even easier to defend a one dimensional offense in shorter yardage?? Bottom line is they lost and everyone's arguing "well their coach is dumber than ours"??
  19. How many points did those great backs score in the 2nd half??
  20. They outscored them 16-0 on offense in the second half, several key stops--Give the kids a chance to win. Beyond stupid given the circumstances. Guess "close" is good enough for some of you??
