Brossart 4 Pikeville 2

Featured Replies

Final in opening round action of the state tournament!

Zach Fardo pitched for Brossart for 6 solid innings and Connor Verst came in for the save.

Solid team effort.

Congrats to Pikeville on a wonderful season.

A little surprised here...Congrats Brossart!

Really nice year by Fardo.

Congrats to the Mustangs on a huge win and no it did not surprise me one bit to see BB win this game as I have seen them play three times and they have solid pitching outstanding catching and some good hitters.

Again Congrats and win keep on winning!

Go Brossart! Best of luck in representing your school and NKY! (Same to NCC).

I am listening to a bit of Dave Schabell and color man Brian Rieger on the Brossart internet radio broadcast from today's game. Excellent coverage. (The Mustangs" failed to put ink in the scorebook " in the first......coming to bat in the 2nd and hoping to " get the party started". " Trevor spins his bat like former Reds player Walt Drobo". )

Walt Drobo? Who the heck is Walt Drobo???

This guy is great. :thumb: :thumb:

Next up for Brossart is a very tough matchup against St. X on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

Congrats to the Stangs on representing the 10th Region and Northern Kentucky well. Keep it rolling!

I had no idea that he could call a baseball game...................J/K

I will have to listen next time the Stangs are one. Anyone know the date and time?

Also, is the Verst boy the son of one Danny Verst?

Congrats to BB and good luck moving forward as I for one know that anytime a NKY team beats any team outside of the 9th or 10th region it is a "shocker" or a "surprise"

Walt Dropo - You all remember him!

Played for the Reds in 1958 and 59. Used to stand in, holding his bat high and twirled it around until the pitch arrived. Trevor Bezold has the same trait. It is kind of amazing that I can remember useless drivel about an obscure baseball player from the 50's, but can't remember where I put the car keys.

Unfortunately, that was our last broadcast of the Mustangs baseball games. I am leaving Wednesday morning for Daytona Beach for basketball team camp at Embry-Riddle. Obviously, had I known that the baseball team would be playing in the Elite Eight of the State Tournament, I'd have made different arrangements. We will link to the KHSAA broadcast network for the Wednesday night game. However, if Sweeperboy really wants to listen to one of our broadcasts, all of the replays of the district and regional tournament games, as well as this state tournament game are available on the BMustangs website.

I too am not surprised that the Mustangs won last night. Pikeville is a Class "A" team that lost to Prestonsburg in the 15th Region "A" Tournament. Brossart defeated Prestonsburg handily last year in the "A" State, with Dylan Embs pitching a no-hitter. With that being said, they did beat Clark County, so we obviously had a a lot of respect for them, and would not have been surprised if they would have sent us home. I thought the game was a typical Brossart baseball game with Fardo doing a great job limiting the Panthers, and then Connor Verst (Danny's Boy) closing it out with a one-pitch fly-out and a pair of K's.

Will Brossart's "ace" be pitching against X or did he go vs. Pikeville?

Way to go BB and representing the 10th so well. Good luck against St. X.
