I stand corrected then.

Correct me if I am wrong but the elbow on the ground is a non-issue. It is the same as putting down your hand to keep your balance. You have to go by whether a knee is on the ground or not. The ball is marked from the knee not the elbow. From that picture I cannot say that he is down because it appears he is on top of one of X's player's legs and I cannot see his bottom knee. The ball is coming out at this point so if he is on top of an X player's legs and his knee is not on the ground, it is a fumble. Maybe the TV angle is better? I have not seen it.

Looks like Elliott may be the real deal this year.

Maybe Russell isn't one of the Top 7 teams in that region this year? Daily Independent must have gotten it right.

My friend from Russell went to this game and he said pretty much the same thing when I talked to him this morning. Russell was up around 37 with over 5 mins to play and Bath pressed when they put their freshman & middle schoolers in and scored over half their points in the fourth. Said they never pressed once prior to them going in. Some of you coaches out there can correct me if I'm mistaken but I always heard there was an unwritten rule with coaches that if I call off my dogs when the game is out of reach you don't press my jv's & middle schoolers whether you sub or not. He said Russell's coaches just looked down at Bath's coach in disbelief. My friend said Bath people were complaining about Elliott Co. 'running it up" on them last week and scoring over 100 points. He found it kind of ironic that they would complain about that and then their coach presses for the first time down almost 40 with over 5 mins to go when the other teams put in their youngsters. Pot, meet kettle.

Gotta stop taking the bait from those Raceland boys. They throw LCA into everything to try and make them look better while not giving Russell credit for spanking them AT FULL STRENGTH much more handily than LCA did. That's why they always say that LCA was easily the best team they played this year regardless of class. It's to rile you boys up and it usually gets a couple of you. I love the boys from LCA. They are my favorite team here in Lexington but I had the privilege of going to the Raceland/Russell game with my friend from Russell and that team would beat my boys from LCA about 7 out of 10 times if they played in my opinion. Russell was more physical and would not try to get into a shooting match with LCA. I'd say all the games would be close but I'd have to give the nod to Russell. Again, this is my opinion and it's all in fun. The only sure thing is they both beat Raceland and, to me based on what I read on here, it seems the Russell loss hurts more than the LCA one does. By the same token, my guess is that losing to Raceland would have bothered a good deal of Russell fans more than losing to Breathitt did. Breathitt won and went home. Raceland is in your backyard. Gotta love those cross-town rivalries!! Sorry for getting offtrack. Belfry still wins this one.

Breathitt will be lucky to stay within 2 touchdowns. No knock on Breathitt, Belfry is that good. The only team that can stop Belfry in Class 3A this year is Belfry.

How many games did you see this year? TV doesn't count because local high school coverages do not do the teams justice. I saw you against 2 of the teams on your schedule including LCA who I saw on more than one occassion this year. They are really good but they are not the best team you played and shouldn't be based on some of the teams you played.

Good ballgame played by 2 pretty evenly matched teams. Russell had their chances and anytime you put yourself in a position to win and you play hard to the end it's hard to hang your head for too long. This is 2 years in a row where they have ended their season with losses that very easily could have been wins instead. This should be great motivation to get back to work for next season. Get a little stronger and faster. I understand that while they lose some excellent players, they will return a lot of talent and their secondary gained some valuable experience this year. The people from Russell will expect another deep run next year. I have enjoyed keeping up with you this year. Congratulations to Breathitt Co. You survived to play another week. The task next week is probably too big but you never know? I feel that Belfry is too strong for any team in 3A this year. I have picked them all year to win it all and I see no reason to change now. I can certainly see your point about Elliott being #1 but it is also understandable to expect that a team with 2 UK recruits may be pretty good. While there may be several players on Elliott who are NAIA or lower level D1 there is no one on that team who will be recruited heavily, if at all, by any MAJOR D1 schools. While those in the 16th may feel that Elliott is the best, and probably are, those around the state see those 2 high profile recruits and naturally give the nod to them. As for Euton and Jackson, it is not unrealistic to think that Billy Gillispie knows a little bit about basketball and if those 2 are on his list and no one else is in the 16th, they must be the 2 best players in that region. He should probably be ahead of Thomas though.
